The cold winter story released in midsummer, the twisting of the characters in "Burning Winter" is like this contrast between hot and cold

Chen Zheyi, the director of "Burning Winter", who was born in the tropics, told us a story that happened in the cold winter of Northeast China. The twisting of the appearance and the heart of the movie characters is like the contrast between this extreme heat and cold.

The film chose the background in the cold winter of the northeast, which retreated the warm background for the story. The snow running through the whole film and the ice that has left the country many times represent the characters' discouragement about life and the solidification of vitality. The layers of thick clothes worn on the body in the cold winter symbolize the inner bondage and shackles of the characters.

Accidental encounters and acquaintances, sudden sorrows come from it, unknown closed loneliness.  

???? Liu Haoran's role is like the watch he wears.

Haofeng, played by Liu Haoran in the movie "Burning Winter", has a handsome appearance, a decent job, and a high-paying income, shiny on the surface but full of confusion and incomprehension in his heart. Just like the watch he carried, it was expensive and beautiful, but the hands stopped.

This snowy field in the movie is like a shelter, a hospital for him.

Escaping here, he was eventually healed by strange people and things. Left his watch, took the padded jacket, walked out of the past and regained warmth.

???? Zhou Dongyu, who is the tour guide in the movie, looks self-cooked, looking enthusiastic and straightforward. Unexpectedly, there was also a shackle in the heart, and no one could ask where the key was.

Until she accidentally met the bear in the snowy mountains of Changbai Mountain, helped her lick her wounds, and achieved self-reconciliation. After many years, I finally called my family again.

???? The big Xiao played by Qu Chuxiao seems redundant in the relationship between the three, but it is indispensable. The seemingly dashing Da Xiao is entangled in his feelings, often cares about him left and right, and finally decides to give up the past in a seemingly true conversation with his 8-year-old cousin. Got on his motorcycle and set off again.

This encounter and acquaintance of the three is like a dream, and everyone is inspired and healed in this dream.

The movie "Burning Winter" pays great attention to the rendering of the sense of atmosphere and the output of inner emotions. The minimalist lines use a lot of silent empty mirrors to create and describe the atmosphere and imagery.

Liu Haoran, Zhou Dongyu, Qu Chuxiao, Chen Zheyi directed this "Burning Winter" is the most special Chinese film this year. It gives me the feeling of a classic Korean & French literary film.

In particular, the scene where the three decide to escape from the library on a whim reminds me of the classic French literary film "Dream of Paris" in which the three protagonists run wildly through the Louvre. And the look and feel is very similar to the feeling that the representative of the French New Wave of Cinema Truffaut's "Zu and Zhan" and Godard's "Outlaw" brought to me.

Perhaps we will change our name to the English name of Chen Zheyi, a director who has studied art in Europe for many years, and all this is reasonable and comfortable.

Although it was released at the Qixi Festival, "Burning Winter" is not a popular romance film. It is conceivable that ordinary audiences will have vastly different evaluations, various understandings, and strange interpretations after watching this movie.

Interestingly, although "Burning Winter" is not a comedy, the movie makes people laugh in many places. Many of the coercion scenes are almost a true embarrassing portrayal of social terror.

The movie "Burning" tells a subtle, rapidly changing emotional relationship, a story of finding warmth in the cold winter, a delicate and flexible literary film.
