Yue Fei had 12 generals, why 9 people testified that he had rebelled

Yue Fei, a shining example of patriotism, a great national hero, is admired by all generations.

However, when Yue Fei was framed and killed, he was not so glorious, there were 12 generals under him, and 9 of them accused him of rebellion, so that many people did not know the truth and really thought that he was guilty!

The "History of Song" records that Yue Fei was born into a generation of farmers and was a native of Tangyin, Henan. However, according to the "Genealogy of the Yue Clan", Yue Fei's ancestral home is Liaocheng, Shandong, and he is the same hometown as Kong Fansen, a model of the times. In Yue Fei's grandfather Yue Cheng's generation, he moved to Tangyin.

When Yue Fei was young, he had moral ambitions, a deep and sincere personality, and few words. He reads hard and has a wide range of knowledge, especially "Zuo's Spring and Autumn" and "Sun Wu's Art of War". Yue Fei has profound literary skills, is good at poetry, and has superb calligraphy.

Yue Fei had a younger brother named Yue Tuan. Yue Tuan was killed by Yang Zaixing, but Yue Fei did not care about personal vendettas, and recruited Yang Zaixing, making him a famous anti-gold general. In the end, Yang Zaixing died in battle and sacrificed his life for the country.

Later, Yue Fei led the majestic "Yue Family Army" and became the backbone of the fight against the Jin Kingdom. Yue Fei's main opponent was Jin Wushu, a general of the Jin Kingdom.

Jin Wushu had a trump card, he formed an elite army of 15,000 cavalry, each wearing heavy armor, invulnerable to swords and guns, three horses in a group, connected together with leather ropes, known as "kidnappers and horses". The "kidnapping horse" rampage on the battlefield, very powerful, invincible, never defeated a battle, the Song army heard of the change.

After careful consideration, Yue Fei planned a way to deal with the "kidnapping horses", and he trained a group of infantry, each armed with a long knife, to cut the legs of the enemy horses, one horse fell to the ground, and the other two horses also fell. The enemy's cavalry was heavily armoured, and they couldn't get up after falling to the ground, and they were all killed by the Song army like chopping melons and cutting vegetables, and Jin Wushu was almost taken prisoner.

The whole army of the "kidnapping horse" was destroyed, and Jin Wushu cried out in distress, saying: "Since I started the army, I have all relied on the 'kidnapping horse' to win, but I didn't expect that today it was all over." Jin Wushu hated Yue Fei to the bone and swore revenge.

At this time, the Jin Kingdom had controlled the north for many years, and its rule was stable and powerful. Although Yue Fei achieved many victories, with the strength of the Southern Song Dynasty, it was impossible to defeat the Jin Kingdom and recover the north. In particular, Emperor Gaozong of Song no longer had the ambition to regain the lost territory and take revenge, and only wanted to favor Jiangnan.

Qin Hui strongly advocated peace with the Jin State, and put forward the plan of "southerners returning to the south, and northerners returning to the north", which was actually to abandon the north and rule the river. This scheme is especially in line with the taste of Song Gaozong.

The rulers of the Jin Kingdom also knew that it was impossible to destroy the Southern Song Dynasty, so they had to agree to negotiate peace. However, Jin Wushu put forward the precondition that Yue Fei must be killed before negotiating. Emperor Gaozong of Song and Qin Hui were eager to make peace, so they began a criminal conspiracy to frame Yue Fei.

Emperor Gaozong of Song issued an edict, first dismissing Yue Fei from his military post and making him a privy envoy, nominally promoted to official, but without military power. Subsequently, Qin Hui coerced Li to lure Yue Fei's subordinates and forced them to identify Yue Fei as plotting rebellion.

The "History of Song" says that Qin Hui first conspired with Zhang Jun, who had been Yue Fei's boss and one of the "Four Generals of Zhongxing", who had made combat merits for resisting Jin, but his character was not good, and he had conflicts with Yue Fei.

Zhang Jun found Yue Fei's subordinates Wang Jun, Wang Gui, and others and asked them to come forward and falsely accuse Yue Fei. Wang Jun and Wang Gui used to be Zhang Jun's subordinates and had a good personal relationship, so they agreed.

The troops led by Yue Fei, although known as the "Yue Family Army", are only a common name, and the standard name is "Royal Camp Rear Escort Army", which is a regular army of the imperial court, not Yue Fei's personal army, and the leading generals have no personal relationship with Yue Fei.

Qin Hui and Zhang Jun separately found Yue Fei's other subordinates, or lured by high-ranking official Houlu, or forced and threatened, or defrauded, using various methods, and finally, among Yue Fei's 12 generals, 9 people, including Wang Jun, Wang Gui, Li Xing, Li Dao, Yao Zheng, Pang Rong, Dong Xian, Xu Qing, and Fu Xuan, identified Yue Fei as plotting rebellion.

Some people testified that Yue Fei once said that Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin became a festival envoy when he was thirty years old, and I also became a festival envoy at the age of thirty, indicating that Yue Fei had ambition. Some people testified that Yue Fei was dissatisfied with the loss of military power and colluded with Zhang Xian to regain military power and plot rebellion. But these are obviously insufficient evidence.

The "History of Song" recorded in the "He Zhu Biography" that Yue Fei's rebellion case was first tried by He Zhu in the imperial history, and He Zhu believed that Yue Fei was wronged and did not affirm the crime. Qin Hui had to give the bottom and said, "Condemning Yue Fei is the emperor's intention, and we can only follow the order." ”

He Zhu said: "I am not thinking about Yue Fei, but for the country. Now that the strong enemy has not been destroyed, killing a major general for no reason is obviously not conducive to the society. Qin Hui was speechless, so he had to change Wan Qiao to be the chief judge. He Zhu refused to frame Yue Fei and was soon demoted.

Wan Yue is Qin Huan's dead friend, and he tortured Yue Fei, Yue Yun, and Zhang Xian, and the three would rather die than say a word. In the absence of any evidence, Wan still sentenced three people to death.

On January 27, 1142 AD, Yue Fei, a generation of heroes, was killed in prison at the age of thirty-nine. Yue Yun and Zhang Xian were killed at the same time.

Upon learning of Yue Fei's death, Jin Wushu and the ministers of Jin Guo celebrated with wine.

Some people say that the reason why Emperor Gaozong of Song killed Yue Fei was because Yue Fei often said that he wanted to defeat the Jin State and welcome back Emperor Hui Qin, which caused great dissatisfaction among Emperor Gaozong of Song.

This is unlikely, because there is no such record in the official history, especially since Song Huizong was dead at that time. Emperor Gaozong of Song killed Yue Fei mainly in order to clear the obstacles to peace.

After getting rid of Yue Fei, the Southern Song Dynasty signed the Shaoxing Peace Conference with the Jin State, and the two sides stopped fighting, and the situation of confrontation between the north and the south was formally formed.

In fact, Song Gaozong knew very well in his heart that Yue Fei was wronged. Twenty years after Yue Fei's murder, Emperor Xiaozong of Song rehabilitated Yue Fei and posthumously named him the Prince of E, with the nicknames "Wumu" and "Zhongwu".

At that time, Emperor Gaozong of Song was the Emperor Taishang, only 56 years old, and if he did not agree, it would be difficult for Yue Fei to be rehabilitated.

Yue Fei's great image of serving the country faithfully lives in the hearts of the people and is admired by all generations.

However, the traitors Qin Hui and Song Gaozong who framed Yue Fei were forever nailed to the pillar of shame in history, scolded by generations, and left behind for 10,000 years.
