On July 9, the Chinese diving team participating in the 2023 FINA Swimming World Championships departed from Beijing for Fukuoka, Japan. This is the first group of members of the Chinese delegation to compete in this year's World Championships, including 18 athletes, who will compete in the diving events of the World Championships starting on the 14th of this month. The Chinese diving team aims to win gold medals in all 13 events after last year's World Championships in Budapest.

The Fukuoka Swimming World Championships should be held in 2021 at the earliest in FINA planning, but due to the repeated epidemic, it was postponed twice, during which FINA temporarily added a World Championship, the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in order to ensure the continuity of the event and allow athletes in related events to be comparable. The Fukuoka World Championships will run from July 14th to July 30th, with diving and synchronized swimming from July 14 to 22, and swimming competitions from the 23rd, interspersed with open water swimming, water polo, high platform diving and other competitive events.

The Chinese diving team is the first delegation sports team to start, and 18 athletes will compete in all 13 events set up by the World Championships diving competition. Among the 18 team members, Wang Zongyuan, Chen Qianxi, Quan Hongchan, Zhang Jiaqi are Olympic champions, and most of the other team members have participated in and won the World Championships, as well as Long Daoyi, Wang Feilong and other first-time World Championships. Because of the absence of Cao Yuan, Yang Jian and other old players, the lineup for the World Championships is generally composed of young players, but young age does not mean lack of experience, most of them can be said to be "experienced" and have experienced the baptism of the World Series many times. For example, 17-year-old Chen Qianxi has been a gold medalist in the women's 10-meter platform of two consecutive World Championships, 18-year-old Zhang Jiaqi is the double champion of the World Championships and the Olympic women's 10-meter platform double event, 16-year-old Quan Hongchan is the Olympic women's platform champion, the World Championships, the World Cup women's platform double champion, and Bai Yuming, a male athlete born in 2007, won the gold medal in the mixed team event with Quan Hongchan at last year's World Championships in Budapest.

In addition to striving for more gold medals and medals, training and selecting talents for next year's Paris Olympics is also one of the purposes of the competition, although there will be a swimming world championship (in Doha) early next year, but the results of the Fukuoka World Championships will also be one of the important reference data for Olympic qualification.

As the second member of the delegation, the Chinese Huayou team will depart for Fukuoka on July 10, and in a little more than a week, the Chinese swimming team will also depart from Beijing for the venue. In addition to Zhang Jiaqi and Zhang Minjie (who participated in the women's doubles competition of the Universiade), the Chinese diving team will return to China early after all the diving competitions are completed on the 22nd.
