Character: Afghan Taliban soldier
A wounded Taliban soldier was captured by forces of the Northern Alliance. He seemed to have foreseen his fate, his eyes were full of fear of death, and he slumped on the ground and refused to get up...
Three AK-47 rifles fired at him at the same time, and the Taliban soldier, who was a prisoner of war, did not finally enjoy the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war. In fact, in the Afghan civil war, which is full of hatred and revenge, many prisoners of war have the same fate as this Taliban soldier...
In the Afghan Pashto language, the Taliban means "student", and most of its members are Pashtun students in Afghan refugee camps, so it is also called the "student army".
Initially, the Taliban armed forces numbered more than 800 people, so many forces dismissed them. However, the disciplined and courageous Taliban raised the banner of "eradicating the warlords and rebuilding the country", so it won the support and embrace of Afghan civilians, especially the Pashtuns, who make up 40% of the country's population. Soon, the Taliban developed into a formidable force with 30,000 regular troops, more than 100 tanks and dozens of fighter jets. In May 1995, the Taliban launched a combat operation code-named "March on Kabul", and they attacked the capital, Kabul, in September of that year, establishing their own regime. In the face of a powerful Taliban offensive, Massoud, Dostum and Khalili formed an anti-Taliban coalition. Because their sphere of influence is concentrated in the northeast and northwest of Afghanistan, it is also known as the "Northern Alliance". Although the Northern Alliance controlled only 10 percent of northern Afghanistan, the Taliban regime still regarded the Northern Alliance as a dangerous enemy, executing several Northern Alliance generals and hundreds of supporters.
Massoud
On 9 September 2001, Massoud, the core leader of the Northern Alliance, was killed by a bomb by a Taliban assassin disguised as a journalist during an interview with two Arab journalists. Subsequently, Dostum, the number two figure in the Northern Alliance, was also attacked by Taliban assassins.
This assassination of the opposing generals has deepened the hatred between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban, and the "911 incident" has allowed this hatred to be vented.
With the support of the United States, the forces of the Northern Alliance recaptured the capital Kabul on December 13, 2001... According to the report of United Nations investigators, the Northern Alliance also carried out organized massacres after the battle to attack the northern city of Kunduttu, and about 5,000 surrendered Taliban soldiers died at the hands of their own compatriots.
Chaotic Afghanistan
Civil strife in a country is the root cause of the cycle of violence, which is so fully reflected in the history and reality of Afghanistan. Hatred is a hotbed of civil war, and civil war breeds more hatred and suffering, which leads to a vicious circle in which entire societies are trapped, in which Afghanistan pays a heavy price.
