"Avatar" tells the story of the future. Humans travel to the planet Pandora to mine resources, and the character played by former Marine Jack Sam Worthington volunteers to participate in experiments and comes to this beautiful planet as an avatar. However, his encounter with the local Na'vi princess Nettini puts him in trouble in the war between humans and the inhabitants of Pandora.
The story takes place in the year 2154, when humans launched the "Avatar Project" in order to obtain the resources of the planet Pandora. Through the DNA mixing of humans and the indigenous Pandora of the Na'vi planet, the Avatar, which is nearly 3 meters tall, is cultivated and can be controlled by human will thinking to facilitate the collection of resources on the planet Pandora and bring them back to Earth. Former Marine Jack Sam Worthington traveled countless light years to the beautiful planet Pandora after being recruited by the government, where he was experimented and became an avatar.
After incarnating as an avatar, Jack was free to move and was given the task of integrating into the Na'vi clan, but the appearance of the beautiful female Na'vi Neytini, Zoe, and Soldana changed everything. Under the guidance of Nietini, Jack learns to integrate into the Nami Ancestral Group, experiencing many trials and adventures. Over time, he was gradually accepted by the Na'vi people and found himself through this journey. But soon, Jack is forced to face the ultimate test of life, and he will lead the Na'vi to declare war on humanity. A war that will decide the fate of the planet Pandora is about to break out.
In Avatar, everything on the planet Pandora is very beautiful. Whether it is a far-reaching exotic space, suspended mountains, flying waterfalls, glowing forests, flying jellyfish, or the blue Na'vi, the Klingon language spoken by the Na'vi, etc., they all appeal directly to sight and hearing. These elements run counter to the way humans perceive and seem difficult to understand and accept.
Like the tail of the Blue Na'vi, these elements may fit the form of life on an alien planet, but are not necessarily understood and accepted by humans on Earth. This is exactly the expressive strategy Cameron employed in Avatar, aimed at avoiding the Uncanny Valley theory.
In other words, in Avatar, Cameron knows very well that although digital special effects and virtual technology have reached the point of omnipotence, the creativity and imagination of the film still need to find a balance between reality and fiction, between the seeming and the unlike.
