Jiangbei District is located in the northwest of Ningbo City, so named because most of the area is on the north bank of the Yongjiang River. Jiangbei District has jurisdiction over 7 subdistricts and 1 town, of which Cicheng Town is the only town in Jiangbei District, which has a long history and was once the seat of Cixi County.
Cicheng Town is located in the northwest of Central Ningbo and Jiangbei District, connected to Zhenhai District, Qianjiang Street and Hongtang Street of Jiangbei District to the east, Haishu District to the south, Yuyao City to the west, and Cixi City to the north, with an area of 102.57 square kilometers. Today's Cicheng Town is just an ordinary township with little attention, but the historical Cicheng Town is very brilliant and has had a huge impact on the economy and culture of the surrounding areas.
Both Cicheng Town and Cixi City have the word "Ci", is there any relationship between them? There is also a fact that Cicheng Town was the county seat of Cixi for a long time.
The establishment of Cicheng began in the Spring and Autumn Period when the Yue Kingdom was practiced, and the history is called JurchenZhang. In the twenty-sixth year of Tang Kaiyuan (738), Fang Zhen (Fang Xuanling's grandson) moved the county to the south of Fubi Mountain, and Jurzhang County was changed to Cixi County, which belonged to Mingzhou, where Cixi was used as a place name, and Cicheng was the meaning of Cixi County. From 738 to 1954, the administrative divisions of Cixi County underwent complicated changes, but for more than 1,200 years, Cicheng was the county seat of Cixi.
In October 1954, the county seat of Cixi was moved from Cicheng to Hushan Town (now Hushan Subdistrict), and Cicheng Town was assigned to Yuyao County. In October 1960, the Cicheng People's Commune, which was then part of Yuyao County, was transferred to Ningbo (a county-level city, not today's Ningbo), and the Cicheng District Office was established in September 1961 and the Cicheng District Office was abolished in December 1962. In October 1984, Cidong Township was merged into Cicheng Town, and Xinci Town was assigned to Jiangbei District. Since 1954, the affiliation of Cicheng Town has experienced Cixi-Yuyao-Ningbo-Jiangbei.
The history of Cicheng as a county seat is gone forever, and the ancient county town of Cicheng, known as the "first ancient county town in Jiangnan", is a witness to this history.
The ancient county seat of Cicheng is located in the middle of Cicheng Town, is the old county seat of Cixi, covering an area of more than 40,000 square meters, and the existing county ya is reconstructed according to the detailed map on the "Chronicle of Cixia County" during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The ancient county seat sits north and faces south, surrounded by mountains on the west, north and east, Dabao Mountain in the west, ShizhuLing and Bamei Mountain in the north, Dongzhu Mountain in the east, and the hou river flowing east and west on the south side of the ancient county town.
Cicheng Ancient County covers an area of 2.17 square kilometers, about 2.015 kilometers long from north to south, about 1.575 kilometers from east to west, and the main streets and alleys are minzhu Road, Jiefang Road, Minquan Road, Baoting North Road, Taihu Road, and the east-west Direction of Rixin Road, Minsheng Road, Zhongshan Road, zhonghua road.
Jiefang Road is located in the middle of the ancient county, from Ningci West Road in the south to Cicheng County in the north, about 1.384 kilometers long, along the line is the town government, and the main schools and banks of the ancient county, as well as a large number of shops and restaurants, is the most lively area of the ancient county.
The cultural and historical sites of Cicheng Ancient County are splendid, preserving a complete traditional living structure, retaining a large number of traditional buildings, and more than 30 have been listed in the cultural protection units. In the western district, there are Danai Hall, Osmanthus Hall, City God Temple, Liu Family Ancestral Hall, Taiping Tianguo Gongguan, Zhou Xinfang's Former Residence; in the Eastern District, there are School Scholars' Hall, Fuzi Mentou, Jiadi Shijia, Ying Zhai, etc.; on the central axis, there are Zhuangyuan House, County Ya, Confucius Temple, Qingfeng Garden, etc.
Among the many attractions in the ancient county seat of Cicheng, the more representative ones are Cihu Park and confucius temple.
Cihu Lake is located at the foot of Kan Mountain in the northernmost part of the ancient county seat of Cicheng, and is known as the "epitome of Xizi" and is the finishing touch of Cicheng. "Good mountains surround the green snails on all sides, and there are many victories in the ten acres of Cihu Lake." Lake is also known as "Kan Lake" because of the Residence of Kan Ze of the Three Kingdoms and the Location of Puji Temple, and the main attractions are Shigu Pavilion, Water Tomb, Floating Bi Mountain and so on.
Located at No. 55 Zhuxiang East Road, the Confucius Temple is complete in layout and grand in scale, reflecting the importance of Confucianism in traditional life and its far-reaching influence, and is the most complete surviving temple of literature in eastern Zhejiang.
