Beat bad cards into kings! Rwanda reached the peak by "copying" China, and the West is not calm

Located in east-central Africa, Rwanda is a small country with a land area of only 26,000 square kilometers. More than two decades ago, a horrific genocide struck the country as a "hell on earth" full of blood and corpses.

At a time of great uncertainty, a man named Kagame stepped forward and saved Rwanda by "copying" jobs from China, turning it into the safest country in Africa with a doubling economy and stable security, and even attracted the eyes of the West.

How did Kagame create this miracle to bring Rwanda from hell to heaven?

When the massacre came, he turned the tide

A few years ago, Africa was the coveted "fat meat" of various Western capitalist countries, a colony they were vying to plunder. Rwanda, with its meager territory, was naturally unable to resist invasion by outsiders, and eventually became Belgian territory. In order to consolidate its regime, Belgium, which is two-faced, calls for world peace on the surface, but behind its back, it does evil things against the Rwandan people.

Soon after the occupation of Rwanda, the Belgians divided the Rwandan people into two races according to "rich" and "no money". Fourteen percent of the rich and white are collectively referred to as "Tutsi," while blacks are called "Hutu." The Hutu have a much humble position than the Tutsi and can only serve as cheap labor for the latter.

The Tutsi and Hutu, who were originally one family, were now forced to "separate" because of Belgian intervention. The Tutsis are not accustomed to the poor Hutu in sour clothes, and feel that they are superior to them; The Hutu are also unaccustomed to the dictates of the Tutsi and hate that they rely on their status to treat themselves like slaves. The huge gap in status soon gave rise to serious class contradictions.

But the Belgians are "not too big to see the excitement", and took the opportunity to add fire. They manipulated the Tutsi to suppress the Hutu, which intensified the contradictions between the two races. The Tutsi and Hutu, who should have been complicit in resisting colonial rule, are now enemies of each other because of "nest fighting". The accident in 1994 raised the resentment between the two sides to a peak.

After the end of World War II, Western countries withdrew their colonies one after another according to the agreement, but the cunning Belgians kept an eye before leaving, in order to protect their own interests. They exploited their long-standing Hutu grievances against the Tutsi to incite them to hold democratic ballots to run for president. Not surprisingly, the Hutu won in numbers and eventually succeeded in winning the presidency.

One day in 1994, the Hutu president and prime minister who were visiting were hit by an unknown bomb on their way. The air crash killed the president on the spot, and the Hutu insisted that it was the Tutsi who did it, and the Tutsi refused to carry the "black pot", and took a bite to believe that the Hutu were directing and acting. The two sides were at loggerheads, and the hatred that had been buried for many years finally broke out completely.

The first to provoke the dispute were the Hutu, who promoted the view that "the president was killed by the Tutsis" to the countrymen through various forms such as radio and speeches, denouncing the Tutsis as a lowly people and that everyone should unite to cut down this "tall tree". However, public opinion cannot achieve the desired effect of the Hutu, and if we want to defend the rights and interests of the nation, a solution by force is the last word.

So shortly after that, the owner of a factory on the mainland received a "big order" from Rwanda. The other party said that he lacked tools to harvest bananas, so he wanted to order a batch of machetes from the factory. The good-hearted Chinese boss could never have imagined that these were actually "weapons" ordered by the Hutu, not to harvest bananas, but to harvest the lives of Tutsis.

At that time, Rwanda was already in chaos. The Hutu were brainwashed by the radio and launched a horrific massacre. For a time, the Tutsi people in the country became the target of everyone, and fell in a pool of blood one after another. What is even more frightening is that many of these people are Hutu relatives and friends, but for Hutu people who are bent on practicing "justice", these do not seem to be inappropriate.

Soon, the Rwandan genocide also caused a sensation in the world, but the United Nations remained silent, and other countries did not take a position. Some soldiers of the peacekeeping force could not bear to see this tragic scene of fratricide and asked the United States to intervene, but the US government refused without hesitation on the grounds of "infringing on the sovereignty of other countries".

Paul Kagame

At this moment, Rwanda can only allow horrific massacres to continue. The red-eyed Hutu vowed to kill the Tutsi and aimed their butcher knives at Tutsi pregnant women. In less than three months, millions of people had died in massacres in Rwanda. Despair and death spread in Rwanda until the advent of Paul Kagame.

At that time, Kagame was the leader of the armed force "Rwandan Patriotic Front", and he witnessed the cruelty of the Hutu people, and he was determined to overthrow the Hutu rule. In the end, Rwanda was able to shake off the quagmire of infighting thanks to Kagame's efforts, but he ceded the presidency to a moderate Hutu and became vice president and defense minister himself.

Kagame knows that the tragedy of the massacre in Rwanda is ultimately a racial dispute. In order to distinguish Hutu and Tutsi, the original Belgians also specially set up a "racial identity card". Although Rwanda is now quiet, the contradictions between the two ethnic groups have not been resolved. In order to solve the problem from the source, Kagame took the lead in making a clear statement to the people:

"I belong neither Tutsi nor Hutu, I don't belong to any race, just an ordinary Rwandan patriot."

Immediately afterwards, Kagame ordered the capture of more than 300 leaders who participated in the massacre and made them receive the punishment they deserved. For those ordinary people who were also involved in the massacre, Kagame turned his back on the slaughter and did not hold them accountable. On 20 July 1994, Kagame ordered the abolition of the ethnic identity card and the uniform use of Rwandan identity cards throughout the country, with violators severely punished by law.

This series of measures has allowed the Hutu and Tutsi who once had no contact with each other to shake hands and start to jointly contribute to the development of Rwanda. Resolving the ethnic tensions, Kagame turned to the economy again, deciding to follow China's development model and introduce advanced ideas to Rwanda, rather than using the indifferent West as a "model" to follow.

There is an old saying on the mainland that "to get rich, build roads first", and the first thing Kagame did when he took power was to build infrastructure. Every year, Rwanda spends 10 per cent of government revenue to build roads throughout the country. It is worth mentioning that 70 per cent of this was aided by the mainland, which exempted Rwanda from 95 per cent of tariffs, taking into account its economic situation.

Rwanda, though small, has been completely backward since the end of the massacre. People don't have the money to feed themselves, send their children to school, or find suitable jobs. But with infrastructure in place, many Rwandans have been able to work in new jobs, and schools have been built across Rwanda, so children no longer have to worry about running out of school.

After the mainland proposed the "One Belt, One Road" strategy, Rwanda responded positively and further promoted the cooperation between China and Rwanda. Rwanda is the source of raw materials for Starbucks, and in order to promote agricultural development, Kagame specially invited Chinese agricultural experts for technical guidance. Rwandans used to keep mushrooms secret, but under the guidance of mainland experts, they eventually turned it into one of their main exports.

At the same time, many Chinese leading enterprises have also come to Rwanda to build factories, bringing Rwanda to a new peak. According to statistics, the bilateral trade volume between the mainland and Rwanda reached 157 million US dollars, and the annual growth rate soared to 10.56%. But Kagame didn't stop there, setting out a two-decade transformation plan to make Rwanda an information powerhouse.

Third, unlike other Western countries that practice "freedom", Kagame also attaches great importance to environmental remediation. Walking in Rwanda at night, there is no need to worry about robbers and shootings. In addition, Kagame also issued a "plastic bag ban" to stop plastic pollution at its source, and it is no wonder that he will become the first African country to win the "United Nations Habitat Award".

Rwanda was not spared the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Most flights were suspended, resulting in a large number of coffee beans not selling. In order to help Rwanda tide over the difficulties, the mainland ambassador to Rwanda and the Internet celebrity Wei Ya came to a live broadcast of coffee beans, and soon sold out all 3,000 pounds of coffee beans. As a token of thanks, the Rwandan government also sent a letter of thanks to Via.

Seeing that the cooperation between the mainland and Rwanda is becoming more and more frequent, some Western countries have made a fuss about the "machete incident" of the past in an attempt to sow discord between China and Rwanda. However, in the face of the smear of the Western media, Kagame was unmoved, but rebuked the United States and other Western powers as the real "devil".

China is a friendly and peaceful country, and when Kagame was alone, it was the mainland that stepped in time to help Rwanda survive the ups and downs of more than 20 years and become a "leader" among African countries. The conspiratorial attempts of some Western countries are destined to become illusory, and may the friendship between China and Rwanda last forever and get better and better!
