After returning to China, Lei Jieqiong has been committed to anti-Japanese activities, and in the anti-Japanese activities, she also met her like-minded partner Mr. Yan Jingyao, and Lei Jieqiong and Yan Jingyao, husband and wife, resolutely fought against the Kuomintang reactionaries in the War of Resistance Against Japan, and witnessed the founding of New China together.
In 1979, Lei Jieqiong, who had long since passed the retirement age, still served as the vice mayor of Beijing, fighting for the people's livelihood problems.

In 1988, there was good news that China would resume the exercise of sovereignty over Macao in 1999, and Lei Jieqiong was elected as the vice chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Macao Basic Law.
