Hey? Whiting? Invaded again?
Since the last Danish oyster invasion caused a huge sensation,
Are cod already eager to try?
Yes!!!
But this time the cod is not eaten.
It's for flowers!
In this issue, I will introduce you to all kinds of "marine culture banknotes" in Norway based on cod design
Historically, the patterns on the currencies issued by various countries have basically been based on their own leaders. The original casting of the heads of leaders on coins began after Alexander's death, and coins in ancient Greece were mostly cast with mythological figures, animals and other content.
After Alexander's death, the empire split, and various factions began to deify Alexander in order to identify themselves as Alexander's legitimate heirs, and the deified head of Alexander began to appear on their respective coins. In fact, this is also a continuation of the ancient Western tradition of minting coins of mythological figures, and living leaders cannot appear on coins. After that, various European countries began to mint coins with the head of the king.
After reading the development history of Western pencil casting, let's take a look at our Greater China. Ancient Chinese coins had only text and few images, and it was not until the late Qing Dynasty, when Sichuan began to mint "Sichuan rupee" coins with the head of the Guangxu Emperor in imitation of Western designs, and imperial images began to appear on coins. During the Republican period, Sun Yat-sen first minted a silver coin commemorating the founding of the People's Republic of China with his own head, and various warlords followed suit.
However, you would never expect that Norges Bank issued a new version of the currency without the heads of leaders and elites, and instead it was - cod!
According to reports, this completely unconventional design came out of a design competition in which 100 and 200 kroner cod coins were the first to circulate, while 50, 500 and 1,000 banknotes were launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
In fact, as early as 1695, Norway became the third country in Europe to introduce a currency, second only to Sweden and England in history. In the 2014 design competition, the element "sea" was chosen as the new currency theme at that time. It should be known that although Norway is a small country, it is also a country with the longest coastline in Europe, with a sea area equivalent to seven times the land area of the country, which makes the marine element always the most classic and powerful international synonym for Norway.
Norges Bank had earlier released a total of 7 currencies (1877, 1901, 1945, 1948, 1962, 1979 and 1994). This new version of the currency, which features cod as the 200 crown pattern, is the eighth. Fishing has been an important way of survival for Norwegians since ancient times and has become one of the symbols of national culture. The design of this currency symbolizes the nurturing of the sea for the Norwegian people and the respect and respect of the local people for the sea. Presumably, after its release, it will be widely respected and loved by people around the world.
For the majority of tourists, just watching cod does not feel good? It doesn't matter, from 2017 until 2019, banknotes rich in various Norwegian attractions will gradually be on the market, completely breaking the "monopoly" of character avatars on banknotes, ready to feast your eyes? Let's take a peek.
The 50 kroner design is based on the Utvæ lighthouse in Solund, built in 1900 in the westernmost part of Norway. Being an important connection point between the Norwegian landscape of land and sea also means that the sea unites us.
The 100 kroner design is based on the Gokstad Viking ship. This is Norway's best preserved Viking ship. The ship was built around 900 AD and was discovered in an ancient tomb in 1880. It symbolizes the sea's guidance to human beings to explore the world, and also contains the courage of human beings to open up unknown areas.
The 500 and 1000 kroner designs are based on the famous RS14 rescue boat and the sea waves. The former indicates the Norwegian people's emphasis on maritime security and humanistic care in the sea, while the latter reflects the important role of marine culture in promoting human history and carrying human civilization.
