FrameView丨15 Minute Urban Design Principles to Help Nursing Home Residents Combat Loneliness
To address issues such as widespread loneliness in nursing homes, 3RW Arkitekter and Nord Architects designed the Lyngdal Medical Center to be shared by residents and the surrounding community.
For a long time, it has been known that nursing homes always give the impression of being old and dilapidated, and the elderly who live in them will also feel more lonely. To reintegrate these spaces into the larger community, the design reflects the concept of a 15-minute city that meets nearly every daily life within a 15-minute walk or cycling dimension. It offers residents a diverse spatial experience, simulates daily activities, and provides office space such as a convenience store or barbershop. This not only helps to solve problems such as loneliness in patients, but also cultivates a sense of independent living.
The design of Lyngdal Medical Center, in a similar model to the Yachiyo Long House Senior Center in Japan, repositions the nursing home as a community space to reimagine the nursing experience and help those who previously needed care (long or short) to live a "normal" life. #Interior Design##Architectural Design##Urban Renewal##Medical##Nursing Home##孤独 #
