Yao Nai (1731-1815), also known as Ji Chuan, was known as Xi Baoxuan (in present-day Tongcheng Middle School), and was known as Mr. Xi Bao. A native of Tongcheng, Anhui. A famous essayist, together with Fang Bao and Liu Daxun, known as the "Three Ancestors of Tongcheng", he is known as "the first person in ancient Chinese literature". In the twenty-eighth year of Qianlong (1763), he served as the chief of the ceremonial department and the official of the Siku Quanshu, and returned to the south at the age of forty years, and successively taught at the academies of Meihua in Yangzhou, Ziyang in Jiangnan, and Zhongshan in Nanjing for more than 40 years. He is the author of "The Complete Works of Xi Baoxuan" and "Compilation of Ancient Texts and Dictionaries".
