Angola is a country located in southwest Africa with an area of about 1,246,700 square kilometers and a population of more than 30 million. Angola's history dates back about 1,000 years, when the region was home to tribes whose culture and language have left a deep mark on Angolan history. In the 16th century, the Portuguese began to establish a colony in Angola and ruled the region for the following centuries. At the beginning of the 20th century, an independence movement began to emerge in Angola, which gained independence in 1975 after a long struggle.
What kind of hardships did Angola go through to become independent?
Early history of Angola
Angola is a country in southern Africa with a rich history and rich culture. Before the Portuguese colonial period, the political and economic situation in Angola was very complicated, and due to the peculiarities of its geographical location, Angola's history was also influenced by neighboring countries.
The early inhabitants of Angola date back to the Iron Age in the 5th century BC. In 1961, Angola's independence movement officially began. In the following years, Angolan nationalists organized a series of guerrilla wars and resistance in an attempt to overthrow Portuguese colonial rule. Angola's independence and civil war

Angola's independence movement dates back to the early 20th century, when some Angolans began to oppose Portuguese colonial rule and demand independence. In the 60s of the 20th century, the Angolan independence movement gradually developed, and there were three main organizations: the Movement for the Liberation of the People of Angola (MPLA), the National Liberation Front of Angola (FNLA) and the Union of Angola National (UNITA).
Established in 1956, the MPLA was one of the first independent organizations in Angola. The FNLA was founded in 1962 by a number of leaders in northern Angola. UNITA was founded in 1966 by a number of leaders from the South. These three organizations played an important role in the Angolan civil war. THE MPLA EVENTUALLY GAINED CONTROL OF THE ANGORAN REGIME, WHILE THE FNLA AND UNITA TURNED ARMED AGAINST THE MPLA GOVERNMENT.
The causes of the Angolan civil war can be traced back to shortly after independence. Angola declared its independence on November 11, 1975, but the MPLA government was not recognized by other independent organizations. The FNLA and UNITA organized armed opposition to the MPLA government in an attempt to seize power.
In the following years, the Angolan civil war escalated further. FNLA and UNITA are supported by foreign countries, including the United States and South Africa. The MPLA was supported by the Soviet Union and Cuba. The civil war has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths and a large number of displaced persons. In the early 1980s, the Angolan civil war worsened. After the death of unita leader Jonas Savimby, the civil war escalated further, resulting in more casualties and property damage. The scale and impact of the Angolan Civil War lasted until the beginning of the 21st century.

Since the end of the civil war, Angola has made some important progress, including political reform and democratization. During the civil war, Angola was a single-party state with the MPLA as the only legal party. However, since 2002, the Angolan Government has taken a series of measures to promote the process of political reform and democratization. These measures include:
Revision of the Angolan Constitution. In 2008, Angola adopted a new constitution that included a number of important political and democratization reforms. For example, the new constitution stipulates that Angola is a multiparty State and that all citizens have the right to participate in politics and elections.
