In terms of crosstalk, Bai Baoting is Chang Baoting's uncle (or uncle), and the relationship is quite close - Chang Lian'an is also Jiao Dehai's apprentice; Chang Baokun was the first disciple of Zhang Shouchen, the great disciple of Jiao Dehai.
In addition, Bai Baoting's nephew Bai Quanfu has been praised by Chang Baoting for nearly half a century in his life, and the "Changbai" group is well-known throughout the country.

Bai Baoting, Manchu, Beijinger. his father Bai Qinglin, stage name "Yunlifei" and "Qing Youxuan" (used in his later years to comment on books) is one of the eight monsters of the second set of flyovers, who first learned Peking Opera martial arts, and later became the originator and commentator of "Funny Erhuang"; Elder brother Bai Baoshan, that is, Bai Quanfu's father, stage name "Xiaoyun Lifei" or "Yunlifei" II, is the first of the "Eight Monsters" of the third flyover.
Baidu Encyclopedia says that "in the twelfth year of the Republic of China (1923), Yu Junbo was taught by Jiao Dehai, and studied art with Zhang Shouchen and Bai Baoting," proving that in 1923 he was already Jiao Dehai's apprentice.
Hou Baolin said in his memoirs, "Bai Baoting only lived to die in his twenties, which is a pity. ”
In an interview with the World Journal in 1932, Jiao Dehai said: "There are only four true disciples. eldest disciple Zhang Shouchen, now in Tianjin; the second disciple Luo Caixiang, now Kaifeng; the third disciple Bai Baoting, deceased; The fourth is Yu Junbo, now Beiping. The rest are named disciples. ”
Combined with Hou Baolin's memories, it is boldly speculated that Bai Baoting's birth date should be around 1905, and the time of death was about 1925 to 1930. The reason is that according to Hou Baolin's recollection, Bai Baoting came to Tianjin after Zhang Shouchen to say crosstalk, and Zhang Shouchen arrived in Tianjin in 1923.
Bai Baoting's crosstalk level should still be good, and there are three evidences: First, the master's personal admission.
The second is the recognition of peers, Hou Baolin said that Bai Bao "is also a very good comedian, and his "mouth work" is the best, even Zhang Shouchen praised him. ”
Third, social approval. There is an article saying that Bai Baoting "learns crosstalk, typhoons, selling appearances, tongues, ramming heads, everything is good."
Regarding the cause of Bai Baoting's death, the data evaluation is "if he makes a mistake, he will be able to earn money, and he will die because of his hobby, and he is also a good person)"
Thinking that many crosstalk artists in the old society had a penchant for drug use, and some even took their lives because of this, such as Li Dezhao, Jiao Dehai, Ma Guiyuan, Dai Shaofu, etc., Zhang Shouchen and Liu Baorui also suffered from drug addiction, so it was highly suspected that Bai Baoting died of drug use.
"Three Mushrooms" Chang Baoting
Chang Baoting, born in 1929, died in 2015, stage name Three Mushrooms, an influential Chinese modern and modern opera artist, the descendant of "Changpai Crosstalk", his father is Chang Lian'an, and his eldest brother is "Little Mushroom" Chang Baokun. "Mushroom" is the love name of the audience in Zhangjiakou, which means "baby". Later, this nickname was inherited by the Chang family, Chang Baoting Xingsan, so it was called "Three Mushrooms". (Only four "mushrooms")
Chang Baoting studied art with his father Chang Lian'an since childhood, appeared on stage at the age of 9, and performed at the "Crosstalk Conference" of Beijing Qiming Tea House at the age of 11. In 1941, at the age of 12, he became a teacher. Guo Rongqi's wife Chang Junting is Chang Lian'an's righteous sister, and Guo Rongqi and Chang Junting also married in 1941. Guo Rong was at first both Chang Baoting's uncle and Chang Baoting's master.

Around the end of 1942 and the beginning of 1943, Chang Lian An saw that Bai Quanfu was excellent, and specially tried to ask him to praise his third son Chang Baoting, and since then the two have worked together for nearly 50 years, until Bai Quanfu's death in 1993, which is a model in the industry. In the long-term cooperation, Chang and Bai have formed a rigorous, witty, fiery artistic style.
The combination of "Changbai" is a combination of pearls, with tacit understanding, complementing each other, skillful performance, noisy but not noisy, warm and hot, simply smooth. Chang Baoting's performance is free and bright, good at oral work, willow work, and "handsome selling strange bad" occupies a "handsome" character.
The two have many representative works, including "Selling Cloth Head", "Digging Treasure", "Moral Court", "Zhuge Liang in Distress" and so on.
After Bai Quanfu's death, Chang Baoting no longer performed on stage, but engaged in the collation of crosstalk materials, sorting out traditional jokes such as "Hitting the Casserole", "The Great Trial" and "Foreign Medicine Formula".
In 2009, Chang Baoting was elected as the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage crosstalk inheritors; In 2012, Chang Baoting won the Lifetime Achievement Award of the 7th Quyi Peony Award,
At 20:10 on January 4, 2015, Chang Baoting died in Tianjin at the age of 85.
Chang Baoting's son Chang Guide (March 14, 1950 – October 5, 2015) was a Peking Opera actor who graduated from the Tianjin Theater School in 1969 and later engaged in crosstalk performance.
Chang Baoting's apprentices include Wang Peiyuan, Bai Jincheng, Yu Fusheng, Yu Lei, Geng Diansheng, Hao Yingchen, Huang Yingyu, Qu Naixin, Wang Yingjie, Wang Yingjun, Zhang Zhitian and others.
Among them, Wang Peiyuan and Yu Fusheng (son of Yu Shide) are more famous.
