Tianjin, 7 Jun (Xinhua) -- On the evening of 6 June, in the dark Bohai Bay, a brilliant gathering gathered in Tianjin Port: At night, cargo trucks still drove one after another to the port area; Under the starry sky, a beam of lights that shine all night lights up the busy work sites. Sixty-eight freighters from around the globe docked at the terminal, loading and disembarking containers filled with the dynamism of China's economy.

Container trucks lined up at the gate of Tianjin Port Area and entered the work site one after another. One driver said that he has been working significantly more recently and earning more.

In the Minato area, the lights are bright.

Walking into the Union International Container Terminal, the "Oriental Luxembourg" ship from Hong Kong is unloading, and the containers are accurately landed on the truck, and then drive to the yard. At the Pacific International Container Terminal, 8 quay bridges were lifted smoothly, and nearly 50 container trucks traveled in an orderly manner. At the LNG terminal, an LNG vessel carrying 75,000 tons of liquefied natural gas is receiving and unloading. This is the sixth LNG vessel unloaded at the terminal in more than a month.

This night, Tianjin Port Smart Zero Carbon Terminal was not idle. Four lines are loading and unloading cargo.

Jia Lu, who has worked at the border inspection for nearly 30 years, only squinted for a short time this night.

"Since the beginning of this year, there have been two to three percent more freighters." At midnight on the 6th, Jia Lu, who was patrolling the perimeter of the "Oriental Luxembourg" ship, said that in the busiest month, 600 ships were inspected and released, and more than 10,000 personnel were inspected and released.

New railways, new routes, expand economic vitality

At midnight, the terminal of Tianjin Port No. 4 Port Co., Ltd. was still busy.

On the dock, the "United Crown" ship is busy receiving and unloading iron ore. At the work site, all seven operating lines were fully opened, and amid the sound of the door machine, cargo trucks full of iron ore drove out of the terminal in an orderly manner. The 170,000 tons of iron ore across the ocean will be transported to the mainland after transit at Tianjin Port.

On June 5, the expansion project of Tianjin Port South Xinjiang Railway was put into operation. "It will increase the overall railway transportation capacity of the southern Xinjiang port area by 15 million tons and optimize the transportation structure of Tianjin Port." On the evening of the 6th, in the Nanjiang Port Tianjin Port Yuanhang ore terminal yard, Li Haifeng, manager of the engineering facilities department, said.

Since the beginning of this year, Tianjin Port has added 3 new container routes.

"Many of the ships anchored tonight are from or destined for Southeast Asia." Liu Xin, route development manager of the business department of Tianjin Port Co., Ltd., said that from January to April this year, the import and export value-added of ASEAN at Tianjin Port reached 50.3%.

The port is a "barometer" of the development of the national economy. Data show that in the first quarter of this year, Tianjin Port completed a cargo throughput of 114 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.71%; Containers completed 5.047 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 9.09%, setting a record high for throughput in the first quarter.

RCEP, bringing new vitality to the port

At 9 p.m., at the Tianjin Port Global Ro-Ro Terminal, two ro-ro ships were working intensively, and more than 1,000 brand vehicles were loaded into the cabin in an orderly manner.

Since the beginning of this year, the import and export of automobiles, especially new energy vehicles, in Tianjin Port Area has increased. Statistics show that in the first four months of Tianjin port export vehicles, the export volume of new energy vehicles reached 87,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 78.4%, and the value of goods was 1.03 billion yuan, an increase of 81.3%.

On June 2, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) officially entered into force for the Philippines, marking the full entry into force of RCEP for the 15 signatory countries and entering a new stage of full implementation.

Taking auto parts as an example, after joining RCEP, some enterprises can enjoy RCEP tariff exemptions for resin gaskets, bolts, solenoid valves and other commodities declared for import from Tianjin Port.

Yang Lei, a 37-year-old planner in the operations department of Tianjin Port Second Container Terminal Co. Ltd., has been on night shifts lately. "With the advancement of RCEP, more and more international routes connect Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei with the world." Yang Lei said.

Data show that in 2022, more than 6 billion yuan of import and export goods under RCEP at Tianjin Port will enjoy tariff preferences, of which the value of preferential imports will be 4.28 billion yuan, and imported goods will enjoy tariff reductions of more than 65 million yuan; Tianjin export enterprises will apply for more than 4,100 RCEP certificates of origin from Tianjin Customs, with an export value of 1.75 billion yuan, and export goods can enjoy tariff reductions of nearly 9 million yuan from importing countries.
