The idea of building three artificial islands in the Taiwan Strait, guarding both ends and the middle of the strait

author:Hashikawa wild pigeon

Recently, the United States has continuously created incidents in the Taiwan Strait on the mainland, which is simply a "hooligan" act. So, how can this rogue behavior be stopped? The author believes that the construction of artificial islands in the Taiwan Strait, especially at both ends and in the middle of the Taiwan Strait, blows in artificial islands, and guards the strait, thereby controlling the navigation of ships coming and going through the Taiwan Strait.

The Taiwan Strait is about 370 kilometers long, only 130 kilometers at its narrowest point, and an average water depth of 60 meters. Compared with the Strait of Gibraltar, Mozambique and other famous straits, the depth or width of the Taiwan Strait can be artificially constructed. We can see from the topographic map of the Taiwan Strait that there are three areas with shallow sea depth in the Taiwan Strait, the first is located in the eastern waters of Pingtan Island in Fujian (the northern part of the Taiwan Strait), the second is the Taichung Shoal, also known as the Yunzhang Bulge (the middle of the Taiwan Strait), and the third is the Taiwan Shoal (the southern part of the Taiwan Strait), the location of these three shoals is precisely near the main shipping route in the strait, and the geographical location is very important. At the same time, there are many mountains along the coast of Fujian, and we can use the method of "shaving peaks and filling valleys" to level the mountains, and then throw stones into the Taiwan Strait, blowing and filling these three artificial islands in these three locations.

The location of the first artificial island is also the only way to pass through the planned Beijing-Taipei sea passage, where we blow and fill in the island, which can be used as a springboard for the sea crossing channel in the future, reduce the difficulty of engineering construction, and facilitate the construction of the sea crossing channel. And after the island is successfully built, we can guard the northern channel of the Taiwan Strait, and if we want to pass through from here, we must "swipe the card". Of course, the sea depth of this island is about 60 meters, and the reclamation is the most difficult.

The second artificial island is located in the Yunchang uplift in the middle of the Taiwan Strait. The water depth here is about 30 meters, and there is a large area of shallows, we can easily blow and fill in the area of more than tens of square kilometers of artificial islands, and can build docks, airports and other infrastructure on the island, as a supply place for ships, the difficulty of reclamation is less.

Tens of thousands of years ago, during the ice age, Taiwan Shoal is a land passage connecting Taiwan Island and the mainland, with an area of 8,800 square kilometers and a water depth of only 8.6 meters at its shallowest point. Therefore, blowing and filling islands in Taiwan's shoals is a less difficult project, and it is also the only area in the Taiwan Strait that can blow and fill out giant islands.

At present, the mainland has already filled in a number of islands in the South China Sea and other places, and has rich experience in building artificial islands, and I believe that the project of building these three artificial islands in the Taiwan Strait is difficult for experienced builders.

Finally, we can see from the ship distribution map that the Taiwan Strait is no less geographically than the Malacca Strait for ships traveling between the mainland, South Korea and Japan, and there are a large number of ships sailing in the strait. At the same time, after we built these three islands, they were firmly controlled by the mainland from the northern end of the strait to the middle and then all the way to the southern end. At that time, if the United States wants to enter the Taiwan Strait to "spread wilderness", whether it enters the Taiwan Strait from the southern entrance or the northern entrance, it needs to directly pass through the mainland's consent, and "swipe the card" to pass, so as to win the initiative.
