The town of Gananok is a historic town in the famous Qiandao Lake tourist area in the US-Canada border area, with a permanent population of only 5,500 people. Tourism, boat repair, and fishing are the town's pillar industries.

Located on the side of the main street of the town, the town hall of the town of Gananoque, was built between 1831 and 1832 and is already 192 years old. Still in use today.

The statue of the soldier in front of the town hall is a statue erected in honor of the townspeople, who died and contributed to the anti-fascist war in World War I and World War II.

The Garnanoque Town Hall is a late neoclassical building, one of the finest surviving buildings of its kind in Ontario. It was originally the home of local landowners, merchants, postmasters, and later John MacDonald, a member of the Legislative Council of Canada.

Gananok was first found inhabited in the late 1790s, when Gananok was first incorporated into a town in 1862 and officially became a town on January 1, 1890.
