After graduating from junior high school in 1972, Kong Xiangrui was assigned to the Tianjin Port Wharf as a worker. Hard-working, diligent and inquisitive, he always thinks about how to dry and refine his work. Workers often see Kong Xiangrui during the break, but also constantly look at the equipment instructions, page by page, one by one, do not understand the information, do not understand the people to ask, until the thick instructions are familiar.

Kong Xiangrui's mind is delicate, he has a habit of keeping a work log, the small book is carried with him every day, in his daily work, he pays attention to what failures occur in the equipment, what causes, repair processes, precautions, etc. are recorded one by one. Once, the large rotating bearings of a gantry crane on the dock had an abnormal noise. This can be a lack of lubrication, but it can also be a precursor to a major accident. If it is not disassembled for a complete overhaul, the door machine may be paralyzed. However, if it is found that there is no problem after dismantling, the company will suffer millions of yuan in economic losses.

To dismantle or not to dismantle? The business leaders and workers present all focused their attention on Kong Xiangrui. Kong Xiangrui listened carefully to the sound again, and then said: It is the bearing that is broken and must be dismantled!

At his suggestion, the company brought in 900 tons of offshore floating cranes for operation. With the rumble of the sea crane, the upper half of the door machine was slowly lifted, and the slewing large bearing was removed. The result was unexpected, and the large slewing bearings looked intact and without abnormalities.

This made the people present sweat for Kong Xiangrui.

Kong Xiangrui himself felt incredible, he quickly calmed down and carefully considered the problem. Subsequently, he directed the crane to turn the large bearing over, and finally found the problem, it turned out that the surface was intact on the back of the large bearing, the balls had been scattered out of the groove, if it continued to be used, the consequences were unimaginable.

In this way, the fault of the door machine was eliminated in time. Since then, Kong Xiangrui has made a great reputation in the unit and has also had the reputation of "disease" of listening to sound interruptions.

In 2001, Tianjin Port built a 100 million-ton port, and Kong Xiangrui's loading and unloading team undertook the loading and unloading task of 25 million tons of cargo. The equipment and personnel have not increased, but the loading and unloading tasks have increased by nearly 30%. To this end, Kong Xiangrui led the technical backbone to collectively tackle key problems, innovate the loading and unloading process, and successfully squeezed out 15.8 seconds through the initiative of "grasping the lifting and closing control into one", so that each door machine averaged 480 tons per day, and completed more than 27 million tons of loading and unloading tasks throughout the year, far exceeding the predetermined target. Since then, this new operation method has been extended to all terminals in Tianjin Port.

In 2006, Tianjin Port accelerated the strategy of "North Coal Southward Migration", and Kong Xiangrui ushered in the world's most advanced coal continuous operation production line in the Southern Xinjiang Port Area of Tianjin Port. This production line has not yet learned from precedents at home and abroad, but Kong Xiangrui has faced difficulties. He learned while doing, constantly summarized the experience in practice, and organized the compilation of the first national port system equipment failure maintenance technical guide, the daily maintenance and repair of the production line 442 practices were summarized, for front-line workers to solve "difficult and complicated diseases", practical, popular.

"Only one Kong Xiangrui is not enough." The state can introduce world-class technology and facilities and introduce top-notch talents, but high-quality labor forces cannot be introduced, and we can only rely on ourselves to cultivate in practice. The rapid development of China's ports requires thousands of skilled heroes and heroic groups like Kong Xiangrui.

Therefore, Kong Xiangrui's operation team has always adhered to a method called "buffet training". Every Friday afternoon, workers gather to discuss operational problems encountered in their daily work and brainstorm ideas for innovation. Under the leadership of Kong Xiangrui, the operation team won the title of National Worker Pioneer and National Quality Trustworthy Team with excellent results, and 2 provincial and ministerial labor models have emerged in the team, and many people have become national and Tianjin technical experts, becoming the main force and commando team of port production.
