In the history of modern revolution, there is such a person, before his death, he wrote two books: "Turning Back" and "Alarm Clock", which awakened countless enthusiastic young people;

After his suicide, he also influenced countless young people to join the revolution, such as Lu Xun, who abandoned medicine and literature because of his influence, and even our prime minister regarded him as his model.

This person's name was Chen Tianhua.

He was the spiritual leader of countless young people, but he committed suicide in Japan at the age of 30

Born in 1875 in Xinhua County, Hunan Province, Chen Tianhua had lofty ambitions from an early age, was one of the founders of the Huaxing Association, and was also a member of the League, and had contacts with Sun Yat-sen, Huang Xing, Song Jiaoren and others.

I don't know if you remember, in our middle school history textbook, there is his introduction, wrote two books: "Turning Back" and "Alarm Clock", which played a role in the late Qing Dynasty, and countless enthusiastic young people were encouraged by it.

In the preface to "Turning Back", Chen Tianhua wrote: "I have also shed a few national tears; I have also suffered a few days of civilized anger; I have also pulled out a killing machine; and I am willing to crush my head on behalf of my compatriots!" ”

However, such a revolutionary and young leader, whose life was as short as a meteor, committed suicide in 1905 at the age of 30 in Japan.

After Chen Tianhua committed suicide, when his body was transported back to his hometown in Hunan, nearly 10,000 people in Changsha were empty, and all the teachers and students of colleges and universities took to the streets to pay his funeral.

The scale of this funeral was so large that the Qing government had to send troops to maintain law and order, and because Chen Tianhua was once wanted by the Qing government, he was originally not eligible to be buried in Yuelu Mountain, but under the strong pressure of the people, the Qing government finally had to compromise, and Chen Tianhua's influence was evident.

Seeing this, many people may ask: Chen Tianhua has such a bright future, why did he commit suicide by throwing himself into the sea? After all, the revolutionary cause has not yet been completed, so why should such a senseless sacrifice be made?

The cause of the revolution is not true, and it is also true that he committed suicide and martyred the country by throwing himself into the sea, but it is not right to say that this is a "senseless sacrifice.".

As early as 1903, at the beginning of obtaining the qualification to study in Japan at public expense, Chen Tianhua was already the vanguard of anti-imperialism and anti-feudalism, especially in the anti-Russian movement, Chen Tianhua also bit his finger, wrote a bloody letter, and denounced the wolf ambitions of Tsarist Russia, Chen Tianhua was also elected as a representative of the anti-Russian movement for Chinese students studying in Japan, and the famous "TurnIng Back" and "Alarm Clock" were written during this period.

In the following two years, Chen Tianhua, together with Huang Xing, Song Jiaoren and others, founded the huaxing association of revolutionary groups, and instigated many uprisings in various parts of Jiangxi. Unfortunately, the uprising ended in failure, and Chen Tianhua was also included in the Qing government's wanted list, and finally had to go into exile in Japan.

At that time, in order to suppress the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal movement of students studying in Japan, the Qing government colluded with the Japanese Ministry of Education to issue the "Rules for the Suppression of Students Studying in the Qing Dynasty" to carry out comprehensive and strict management of students studying in Japan, not only to register food, clothing, housing, and transportation, but also to censor what books to read and what to say.

In the face of such naked humiliation, chinese students studying in Japan who should have been unanimous in their efforts to go abroad first engaged in infighting, and on the one hand they wanted to return to China in anger, and on the other hand, they had to bear the burden of humiliation and not give in to each other, and finally they actually made a big fight.

Obviously, this is exactly what the Qing government wants to see. After hearing such news, Chen Tianhua was heartbroken, and that night he wrote the article "Desperate Words" and then committed suicide by throwing himself into the sea.

The sudden news of Chen Tianhua's death shocked all the students studying in Japan, and even more shocked many aspiring young people in China. As he himself put it, "Die when you have the chance to die."

Seeing this, will everyone still think that Chen Tianhua's self-sacrifice is meaningless? He was telling his countrymen with his life that some things were far more important than life! He is telling everyone with his determination that the revolution will inevitably have bloody sacrifices, and he is willing to be the first!

Perhaps even Chen Tianhua himself did not expect that he would become the soul mentor and guiding light of many people, like the famous revolutionary female fighter Qiu Jin, who regarded Chen Tianhua as his revolutionary enlightener, Lu Xun also took Chen Tianhua's death as a turning point in his life, and since then he has abandoned medicine and literature, while Zhou Gong, who also went to Japan to study in Japan to seek the road to save the country, regarded him as his idol and model...

In exchange for the awakening of countless young people, Chen Tianhua's death is as heavy as Mount Tai!
