On September 27, on a dark night, Chen Tanqiu, Mao Zemin, Lin Jilu and others in prison uniforms were taken to a deserted meadow.
In order not to publicize this matter and prevent the sound of gunfire from alarming the surroundings, Sheng Shicai ordered his subordinates, Lu Binglin, director of the dihua city pseudo-detention center, to strangle Chen Tanqiu and others with hemp rope after they were stunned.
Lu Binglin, a cruel and ruthless executioner, did not even do the work of being dizzy, and directly strangled Chen Tanqiu and others to death.

Lu Binglin later remembered staring into his eyes before he died, and his heart would be a little frightened, as if he had been seen through the soul, and his heart was full of guilt.
On June 9, 1945, when the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China elected members of the Central Committee, Chen Tanqiu was also elected as a member of the Central Committee.
It was not until May 1946, after Zhang Zhizhong became chairman of the Xinjiang provincial government, that the news that Chen Tanqiu and others had been killed two years earlier, on September 27, 1943, reached the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Yan'an. Until then, they hadn't known bad news.
The sacrifice of Chen Tanqiu, Mao Zemin, Lin Jilu, and other Communist Party members was a major event in the history of the CPC.
After the founding of New China, Chen Tanqiu's son Chen Hu learned that Xu Jie, who had died in Xinjiang, was his father, Chen Tanqiu. Since then, the party organization has been looking for the murderers of these revolutionary martyrs, but it has never been fruitful.

In order to win the trust of the people in Xinjiang, Sheng Shicai also announced to the public his six major policies of "anti-imperialism, pro-Soviet, people's peace, clean and honest, peaceful, and construction."
But then, Sheng Shicai realized a fundamental problem, at this time Xinjiang talent is scarce, if he wants to implement these "six major policies" in Xinjiang, it is far from enough to rely on the personnel around him, and the "six major policies" will be difficult to achieve.
Therefore, Sheng Shi thought of recruiting some political, economic and cultural talents in the mainland to help himself.
After careful consideration, Sheng Shi believed that the political and moral qualities of the Kuomintang personnel were too low, and there were many bad problems in them, so they could not find the Kuomintang personnel.
The Kuomintang can't do it, then the Communist Party, at that time there was no infighting between the Kuomintang and the Communists, so it was very convenient to borrow people.
Therefore, Sheng Shicai began to ask the party organization in Yan'an for help, asking the CPC Central Committee to send a group of cadres to Xinjiang to help him in xinjiang's construction work in order to change the face of Xinjiang.

The CPC Central Committee also gave full support to Sheng Shicai's request to send outstanding CPC members to Xinjiang to work. A large number of outstanding Communist Party members and comrades with professional expertise have been successively dispatched to xinjiang. After arriving in Xinjiang, these comrades gave full play to their professional ability and ability and knowledge.
With the joint efforts of comrades, Xinjiang soon took on a new look, and Sheng Shicai also gave a very high evaluation of the performance of CPC members in Xinjiang.
In 1939, Chen Tanqiu was ordered to return from Moscow to Xinjiang as a party representative and director of the office of the Eighth Route Army, and in order to work better, Chen Tanqiu assumed the name Xu Jie. Chen Tanqiu was accompanied by Mao Zemin, who assumed the pseudonym Zhou Bin, and others.

It was also this back-and-forth exchange that brought the CPC's exchanges with Sheng Shicai and the gradual growth of the Communist Party's strength in Xinjiang, and also attracted the attention of the Kuomintang central unification secret service.
Chen Lifu immediately made a secret report on the matter to Chiang Kai-shek, and Chiang Kai-shek specially sent Huang Musong, Sheng Shicai's teacher, alternate executive of the Kuomintang Central Committee, and president of the Army University, to be a special envoy to persuade Sheng Shicai.
Under the joint instigation of Chen Lifu and Huang Musong, Sheng Shicai slowly changed his position and began anti-communist actions.

Not only that, Sheng Shicai also revoked the post of director of the Finance Department of Mao Zemin Province.
After Chen Lifu returned to Nanjing, he still kept in mind the situation in Nanjing, and the topic he talked about the most when he contacted Sheng Shicai was anti-communism and attacking the Communist Party.
In order to speed up the elimination of the Communist Party in Xinjiang, Chen Lifu repeatedly took advantage of the opportunity to meet Chiang Kai-shek and suggested that Xu En, who had brought a group of spies to Xinjiang to help Sheng Shicai investigate the Communist Party, but due to the immaturity of the time, Chiang Kai-shek never agreed.
It was not until 1941, when the Soviet-German War broke out, that Sheng Shi believed that the Soviet Union was also unreliable, so his anti-communist features began to be exposed unscrupulously.
In order to support Sheng Shicai's crackdown on the Communists, Chen Lifu again suggested to Chiang Kai-shek that Xu Enzeng, the head of the Central Unification Secret Service, be sent to Xinjiang to work for a period of time.
At this time, Chiang Kai-shek also felt that the time was ripe, and immediately issued an order to send Xu En, the head of the central unification secret service, to Xinjiang to help Sheng Shicai carry out anti-communist work.
Their goals are very clear, with two main ones:
One was to further mobilize Sheng Shicai to oppose communism and submit to Chiang Kai-shek's government.
Another major purpose is to find out the list of Communist Party organizations and numbers in Xinjiang in preparation for future arrests.
Under the incitement of some people, Sheng Shicai's wolf ambitions became more and more blatant, and even his younger brother Sheng Shiqi did not let go.
In order to further show his submission and loyalty to Chiang Kai-shek, in mid-August 1942, Sheng Shicai ordered that all CCP members working in Xinjiang be transferred back to Dihua.
The staff of the Red Army office in Xinjiang were also all concentrated in the Eight Liang Guest Houses for centralized surveillance.
The Communist Party is in Xinjiang
On August 17, Sheng Shicai took advantage of the opportunity of going to Chongqing for a meeting and jointly signed a report to Chiang Kai-shek with Zhu Shaoliang, commander of the Eighth Theater, and smeared and rumors about Chen Tanqiu, the head of the CHINESE Communists in Xinjiang.
Sheng Shicai slandered Chen Tanqiu and others for engaging in conspiracies and riots throughout Xinjiang, so he prepared to arrest them, and when the time came, he asked Chiang Kai-shek to send people to Xinjiang to conduct an interrogation of the previous riot cases.
As for this report, Chiang Kai-shek naturally knew this report, and immediately approved the opinion on Sheng Shicai's report that "it is appropriate to send personnel to participate in the interrogation, but it is advisable not to disclose it for the time being."

On September 17, 1942, Tang Zhiquan, the leader of Sheng Shicai's second brigade, led a group of secret agents to the door of Chen Tanqiu's temporary residence in Xinjiang.
Tang Zhiquan said that Sheng Shicai had important matters to discuss with Chen Tanqiu, and asked Chen Tanqiu to quickly follow him and go to Sheng Shicai to talk.
At that time, Chen Tanqiu had already sensed a hint of something wrong from Tang's attitude of holding power, combined with sheng shicai's previous attitude toward communists and some alienating behaviors.
Chen Tanqiu knew that this was Sheng Shicai who was about to attack the Communist Party.
Therefore, Chen Tanqiu immediately explained the relevant matters of the work to Ji He, who was by his side, and then hurriedly went into the back room to tell his wife Wang Yunxue that he was going to be arrested by Sheng Shicai, and that Liu Ping would be solely responsible for the future work, and everything could be reported to him.
After Chen Tanqiu finished explaining these things, the military and police immediately rushed in, forcibly pulled Chen Tanqiu and Mao Zemin out together, and put them under house arrest at Liu Mansion.
Immediately afterward, these people imprisoned More than twenty people, including Lin Jilu, in a guest house in Triangle Land.
On September 18, Chen Tanqiu and five other family members were also "invited" into their residence and were "jointly placed under house arrest." Chen Tanqiu eagerly asked about the situation outside when he saw his wife, Wang Yunxue.
During his "house arrest," Chen Tanqiu wrote to Sheng Shicai on many occasions: "We accept your invitation to come to Xinjiang to help with construction, please ensure our personal safety and send us back to Yan'an." ”
But every time, the letter written by Chen Tanqiu sank into the sea and did not cause the slightest reaction from Sheng Shicai.
Because at this time, Sheng Shicai had already completely surrendered to Chiang Kai-shek and did not care at all about the request he had made to Yan'an in order to build Xinjiang.
It also forgot the efforts made by Communist Party personnel to build Xinjiang.
Because Chen Tanqiu was the top head of the Communist Party in Xinjiang at that time. Therefore, Xu Enzeng focused his interrogation on interrogating Chen Tanqiu.
Once, when Xu En interrogated Chen Tanqiu, he gave Chen Tanqiu a bitter persuasion, but Chen Tanqiu resolutely refused.

On the night of September 27, 1943, Lu Binglin, director of the pseudo-detention center in Dihua City, received an order from Sheng Shicai to strangle Chen Tanqiu, Mao Zemin, Lin Ji, and others to death with ropes used by military and police.
Later, under the command of Lu Binglin, the crowd pulled the bodies of several people to the top of a very deserted mass grave nearby, and dug a pit in a very hasty way to bury several people.
After returning home after doing these things, Lu Binglin's heart was not a taste, because he knew that the people he had killed were important figures in the CCP.

In the autumn of 1947, after the liberation of Lanzhou, this evil counter-revolutionary Lu Binglin saw that the situation was not good, immediately disguised his identity, fled from Zhangye to Lanzhou, and went into hiding for several years.
In order to completely hide his identity, Lu Binglin did not hesitate to hold the fried hot and black peas on his face, resulting in many burned hemp on his face. In order to make a living, Lu Binglin also signed up for the exam and successfully applied for the ticket inspector of the Orchid Garden Friendship Cinema.

After the peaceful liberation of Xinjiang, Sheng Shicai fled to Taiwan with the Kuomintang troops, while some of his subordinates who could not escape with Sheng Shicai stayed in Xinjiang to find their own way out.
A prison guard surnamed Li from the former Dihua City Detention Center, after Sheng Shicai escaped, knew the current situation and could no longer stay in Xinjiang.
So he took the opportunity to sneak from Xinjiang to Lanzhou, ready to live a life of incognito.
But his dream didn't take long to shatter because he was exposed.
One day in 1949, after receiving a report from the masses, the Lanzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau immediately arrested the prison guard surnamed Li, who was working in an auto repair shop at the time, and was startled by the sudden arrival of the police.
Because he didn't expect to hide in such a remote place so far away, he would still be discovered.
After that, Li prison guard was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Lanzhou Municipal People's Court for participating in counter-revolution as a counter-revolutionary, and served his sentence in Gaolan First Prison in Gansu Province.
During his sentence, Prison Guard Li actively participated in various labor reform activities and conscientiously received the party's ideological education. After going through various criticisms and educations of the party organization, Li Prison Guard deeply reflected on the wrong things he had done and showed great enthusiasm in prison.

This theater is very popular in the local area, and many people come to watch movies almost every day. Every time Li Prison Guard passed by here, he would see a group of dark people lining up at the entrance of the theater.
One day in 1955, as usual, when Li Prison Guard was performing the work of a foreign prisoner, he passed by the door of this theater again, but this time there was a quarrel at the door of the theater, so loud that Li Prison Guard could not help but stop and watch.
But as soon as he thought of his status as a foreign slave and still had a lot of work to do, Li Hadhigh had to move on.
But with the sound of a voice, The Prison Guard Li was no longer calm. He immediately stopped, thought for a moment, and then approached the group of quarreling people at the entrance of the theater.
In the gap between the crowd, Li Prison Guard saw the man with the northwest accent who was arguing with people, although the man's face was potholed, but his familiar Northeast accent made Li Prison Guard react at once.
The man who quarreled with people in front of him was his former boss, Lu Binglin, the former director of the fake detention center in Dihua City!
He was the murderer of Chen Tanqiu!

At that time, under the instructions of Chairman Mao, there was a campaign to suppress counter-revolution throughout the country, and with the wave of suppression of counter-revolution rising, under such a trend, The Li prison guard finally made up his mind to report Lu Binglin.
The next day, The prison guard Li came to the Lanzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and informed the police comrades in detail about Lu Binglin, who immediately collected all the information about Lu Binglin in Lanzhou City, and then sent a letter to the public security department in Xinjiang to retrieve the file about Lu Binglin.
After careful analysis, the police comrades decided to arrest the conductor of the Orchid Garden Friendship Cinema and conduct a search of his current residence.
After making close arrangements, in order not to scare the snake, two policemen came to the Orchid Garden Friendship Cinema in plain clothes.
At that time, Lu Binglin was working in the theater, and the police comrades went directly to the security room and asked the person in charge of the theater to call Lu Binglin, who was working.
Lu Binglin was working as usual this day, but he was suddenly called away by the person in charge of the theater, at that time Lu Binglin was still wondering in his heart, usually he rarely communicates with this person in charge, how can he suddenly call himself today?
Lu Binglin also thought to himself: Is it that the things that shouted at customers a few days ago were known to the person in charge, and this is to exonerate himself?
Unconsciously, Lu Binglin came to the security room, and as soon as he entered the door, Lu Binglin saw that there were two more strangers in the room.
Lu Binglin was not allowed to have any thoughts, and one of the two comrades said to Lu Binglin: "This comrade, we are a policeman of the Lanzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, and now there are some things that we want you to cooperate with our investigation. ”
As soon as this police comrade finished speaking, another police comrade came to Lu Binglin's side and restricted his movements, and only then did Lu Binglin finally understand that his identity had long been exposed.
He knew that he would not be able to escape by inserting his wings, so he obediently followed the police comrades to the interrogation room of the public security bureau.
Here, Lu Binglin told the police his true identity and the bad things he had done during his tenure as the director of the fake detention center in Dihua City, including his involvement in the killing of Chen Tanqiu and other revolutionaries.
And Lu Binglin never expected that he would not hesitate to disguise his identity and destroy his appearance, hide for 13 years, and was recognized by a small subordinate of his own year.
In the end, he could not escape and fell into the net.
After a trial at the Lanzhou Intermediate People's Court, Lu Binglin was sentenced to death.
On the afternoon of February 28, 1956, a verdict was held at the stadium in Hongshangen, Lanzhou City, and the people present all scolded the executioner, especially since this person had killed so many CCP members that everyone was eager to slash him with a thousand knives.
In the end, Lu Binglin was escorted to the execution site and executed.
With the sound of three gunshots, this belated punishment finally fell on Lu Binglin's body, and he also died forever with his sins.
After liberation, Chen Tanqiu's remains were buried in the Martyrs' Cemetery on the southern outskirts of Urumqi City, and Dong Biwu's handwritten inscription "Tomb of Chen Tanqiu Martyrs" is still left on the marble tombstone.
Lu Binglin's death finally gave chen Tanqiu and other martyrs an explanation for their deaths. It also shows that while justice is sometimes late, it is never absent.
