On May 26, the summary meeting of the first teaching exhibition and exchange activities of Shanghai universities and the 2023 Innovative Teaching and Learning Seminar of Fudan University were held.
During the event, 8 universities in Shanghai jointly proposed the establishment of a teacher teaching development alliance to cope with the classroom revolution brought about by technological development.
In the roundtable forum, several university presidents, professors and enterprise representatives also shared their views on "Cultivating Top-notch Innovative Talents in the Context of Digitalization".
Relying on ChatGPT, you lose creativity!
In the keynote speech, President Zheng Qinghua of Tongji University shared the impact of artificial intelligence on education and teaching.
Zheng Qinghua believes that AI will empower education, but it cannot replace teachers, but teachers who know how to use AI may replace teachers who do not know how to use AI. In the future, human-machine collaboration will become the development trend of education.
He pointed out that ChatGPT should be used in education as an aid, not an innovative model, and that ChatGPT's database is very "vast", but not "subtle" enough, with enough knowledge, but lacking intelligence and wisdom.
Specifically, if relying on artificial intelligence will bring a series of problems in talent training, lack of interpersonal interaction and empathy cultivation, it is easy to lead to insufficient socialization of students, which is not conducive to emotional development and personality soundness; Treating ChatGPT as a "big encyclopedia" that solves all problems, and using it anytime, anywhere, will ignore the cultivation of creativity and critical thinking; At the same time, ChatGPT has also had an impact on the existing examination evaluation system, resulting in serious intellectual property and academic integrity issues.
The connotation of talent training remains unchanged!
Ding Xiaodong, president of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, believes that AI has greatly improved our convenience in acquiring knowledge and accelerated the speed of our research experiments, which has greatly promoted the process of cultivating top-notch innovative talents in engineering technology. The cultivation of top-notch innovative talents requires teachers to teach students what is facing the frontier and the future.
Ding Xiaodong also pointed out that although technology is changing, the connotation of top-notch innovative talent training has not changed, innovative awareness, innovative spirit, innovative ability is still the core issue of talent training, we must pay attention to students' curiosity, acumen, courage, and do not forget to cultivate the ability to resist setbacks.
Knowledge system, learning space, to reconstruct!
Zhou Aoying, vice president of East China Normal University, pointed out that in the era of artificial intelligence, the paradigm of science has undergone fundamental changes, and the route of technology has also undergone subversive changes. In this context, we want to cultivate top-notch innovative talents, not to teach knowledge in the traditional sense, but to give students an open space, solve practical application problems, explore true knowledge in practice, and develop new technologies and new theories in application scenarios.
According to Zhou Aoying's prediction, in the future education, the knowledge system will be reconstructed, and the learning space will also be reconstructed, gradually forming a smart education paradigm with teaching without class, teaching according to aptitude, edutainment and teaching.
At the meeting, the results of the first "Shanghai University Exemplary Undergraduate Classroom Construction" and the first teaching exhibition and exchange activities were summarized and displayed, and certificates were issued to the courses selected for the first batch of "Shanghai University Exemplary Undergraduate Classroom" and the Excellent Organization Award.
At the event, the Shanghai Higher Education Teachers Teaching Development Alliance was officially established.
The alliance was jointly initiated and established by eight universities, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and East China Normal University, and was guided by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.
The establishment of the alliance will further promote the interconnection, open sharing and radiation of high-quality education and teaching resources of teachers in Shanghai universities, and comprehensively empower teacher development and innovative talent training.
The first demonstration classroom demonstration and exchange activity of Shanghai universities was hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, hosted by Fudan University, and actively participated by 30 universities in the city. All colleges and universities give full play to the leading role of demonstration classrooms, actively organize teaching innovation month activities, and carry out various forms of teaching exhibitions, seminars, forums and other mutual learning and exchange activities.
