3-month-old Ozawa caused the umbilicus to discharge fecal residue and accompanied by odor, and the parents disinfected it locally at home, and the symptoms did not improve, but worsened, and a large area of flushing and water broke out of the skin around the navel and groin. 01. What is umbilical fistula?
This is a congenital disease, although there is only one umbilical cord between the mother and the fetus, the umbilical cord is connected to the five major structures of the fetus in the umbilical cord - the one connected to the intestine is called the yolk duct, the one connected to the bladder is called the umbilical ureter, the umbilical vein is connected to the liver, and two are connected to the left and right iliac arteries called umbilical artery.
Due to congenital reasons, the yolk duct is underdeveloped, there is still a pipe communication between the "navel eye" and the intestinal tube, and feces and bubbles continue to emerge after the fetus is born, which is often a manifestation of umbilical fistula.
02. How to treat umbilical fistula?
Umbilical fistulas require surgery: if the fistula is not removed surgically soon, bowel prolapse and even intestinal necrosis may occur.
If it is found that the baby's navel is often red and swollen, "bubbling", and there is fluid flowing out, be careful that it is umbilical fistula, and parents take the child to the hospital in time.
