Xinhua News Agency reported on May 9 that in the early morning of May 9, local time, the Israel Defense Forces airstriked a number of targets in the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (jihad). The Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement that Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have killed at least 12 Palestinians and injured 20 others. It is worth noting that on May 3, local time, Palestinian sources said that under the mediation of the United Nations, Qatar and Egypt, Palestinian armed groups and Israel reached a ceasefire agreement in the early hours of the same morning. The airstrikes came just five days after the ceasefire agreement between the two sides. Tariq Selmi, a spokesman for Palestinian Islamic Jihad (jihad), said in a statement dated May 3 that "a new round of conflict is over, but Palestinian resistance to Israel will continue." On May 3, Israeli officials did not make any comments on this.
