Editor's Note

In order to enhance the attractiveness, influence and academic taste of Sanmenxia photography cultural activities, the 2020 Swan Lake Collection Award in Sanmenxia, China will be held simultaneously with this exhibition.

This year, the judges conducted a strict preliminary and final evaluation of the entries, and finally selected 12 (group) winning works (all non-Sanmenxia authors) and divided them into grades. The winning works will be produced at the collector's level and will be collected by the China Museum of Photography.

In recent years, with the art of light and shadow as the link, the photography festival exhibition as the carrier, and the goal of building a Chinese photography culture city, the city has innovatively established the photography brand of "China Sanmenxia Natural Ecology International Photography Exhibition", successfully won the crown of "China's Photography Hometown", and the Training Center of China Photographers Association (Sanmenxia) settled in Sanmenxia, Sanmenxia's photography atmosphere is getting stronger and stronger, and the photography industry is booming. The "Swan Lake Collection Award" in Sanmenxia, China, has been opened since 2017 and is intended to gradually become the "Oscar" of natural ecological photography in China and even the world. At the same time, we will continue to use the white swan resources as a platform to condense and integrate the wisdom of the photography community across the country and even the world, and strive to promote the construction of Sanmenxia photography culture to a higher level.

This newspaper is now publishing the 12 works (groups) that won the 2020 Swan Lake Collection Award in Sanmenxia, China, for the benefit of readers.

"The Ornament of the Deer King" (Group Photo Gold Award)

Brief description: The picture shows the wild stag in the Yellow Sea wetland during the estrus, in order to intimidate opponents and attract the attention of the opposite sex, with antlers to top various fishermen's waste to dress themselves. The body is coated with black mud, and the antlers are topped with fishing nets, bamboo poles and other strange ornaments left by fishermen on the wetlands, which become a beautiful scenery in the middle of summer.

"Snow Dance" (Silver Award)

Brief description: Two red-bellied golden pheasants, two national second-class protected animals, one still and one moving, dancing around the trunks of trees in the snow with slender and graceful postures.

About author:Guo Qiang, a native of Yicheng County, Shanxi Province, a member of the China Photographers Association and the Shanxi Photographers Association, and the vice chairman of the Yicheng County Photographers Association.

"Spring Flowers" (Silver Award)

Description: Guests from Siberia are in full bloom like flowers.

Recurvirostra avosetta is a bird of the genus Recurvirostra avosetta in the family Regurgitae. Medium-sized waders with a black beak, slender and upturned. The feet are also long and bluish grey. The crown of the head is black from the forehead to the back of the neck, the wingtips and two strips of upper wings and shoulders are black, and the rest of the body feathers are white. When flying, the black head, black wing tips, and black bands on the dorsal and wings contrast with the white body feathers and the dark feet that protrude far behind the tail, which is very eye-catching and not difficult to identify in the wild.

Brief introduction: (1) "The Big Fish Ball of the Mumen" was filmed on October 16, 2019 in Mexico, Blue Marlin (scientific name: Blue Marlin).

After 5 hours of round-trip waves and bumps, my group of 8 friends and I finally saw about 50 blue marlin hunting extra large sardine balls. According to the captain of the same team, such a large sardine ball has only been seen 3 times in 35 years. Our group was very lucky, this is the big fish ball of blue marlin, but also our big fish ball, the big fish ball of the mu.

(2) "Into the Water" was filmed in Mexico on October 4, 2019.

Close-up of the head of the great white shark (scientific name: Carcharodon carcharias) jumping out of the water to hunt for food into the water. Although separated from the cage, the 5-meter-long, four- or five-ton great white shark that falls into the water less than 1 meter away from you will still make your adrenaline rush.

(3) "Niño" was filmed in Cuba on February 12, 2019, with a saltwater crocodile (scientific name: Crocodylus porosus).

Niño (pronunciation: niniu) is the Spanish word for little boy, and Niño is the name of this crocodile, which grows in the mangroves by the sea. Dive crews say niño was first seen 12 years ago when it was just a 50-centimeter-long crocodile. After 12 years, the "little boy" has grown into an adult saltwater crocodile of more than 3 meters.

(4) "Hideous" was filmed in Mexico on October 5, 2019. The great white shark eats the most vicious moment of bite!

(5) "The ROCK" was filmed in Mexico on October 10, 2019. The "movement, stillness, light, and shadow" around a rock in the sea!

(6) "Xiang" was filmed on October 10, 2019 in Mexico, sea lion (scientific name: Otarriinae).

A small sea lion quickly "flew" over the sardine school, "piercing" the sardine school out of a "tunnel".

(7) "The Leader of the Blue Marlin" was filmed in Mexico on October 16, 2019.

Diving into the water at a depth of about 15 meters to shoot the marlins besieging the sardine bait ball, the "head fish" of the blue marlin suddenly and calmly swam slowly to me, taking this opportunity to quickly take a "headshot photo" of the "boss" of the blue marlins, and even the parasites on its body could be seen very clearly.

(8) "Amphibious Crossover" was filmed in Cuba on February 12, 2019.

The saltwater crocodile is an amphibian. I wanted to be able to show how it was when it was in two worlds at the same time, this semi-water work was very difficult to shoot, I took 2 hours and nearly 500 photos to select this relatively satisfactory work.

"Badger" (Bronze Award)

Description: Photographed in Serengeti, Africa, in June 2019. The badger is an alert and agile mammal, known for its ability to kill venomous snakes, and they also eat almost all small animals, including insects, lizards, birds and various rats.

"Pan Silk Cave" (Bronze Award)

Attack in the Morning (Award of Excellence)

Description: At 5:46 a.m. on April 4, 2019, at the beach, a killer whale attacked two seals, rushed to the beach in order to prey on the killer whales, leaving the sea on which they depended, and the two seals tried their best to escape. The work vividly demonstrates the survival relationship between the strength and weakness of marine wildlife in nature.

Homeland (Excellence Award)

Introduction: The work places the white swan in a large scene, with the long-range and medium-scale as the main scenes, highlighting the environmental sense of "homeland" and emphasizing the interrelationship between animals and the environment. The work attaches great importance to the capture of light and shadow and color in different scenes, and through the control of shutter speed, it expresses the cheerful and elegant posture of the white swan in the virtual reality. The work leads people to think about this theme: it is so beautiful for people and animals to share a harmonious "home"!

About the author: Ma Lijun (pen name Ma Ge), born in April 1963. He is a member of Henan Photographers Association, a member of Henan Art Photography Society, and a contracted photographer of One Map. Since 2011, he has insisted on photographing the wintering life of giant swans in Sanmenxia, Henan and Pinglu Yellow River Wetland in Shanxi for many years. The experience of shooting again and again has triggered his deep thinking on the relationship between people, wildlife and ecological environment, and then through photography creation, he has excavated the profound theme of ecological civilization and ecological ethics.

Brief description: Taken in 2013 in Nantou, Taiwan, the subject is a Taiwanese green cat spider. Every year between July and October, the mother green cat spider produces more than 300 small green cat spiders. This female green cat spider weaves webs on the reeds and carefully raises her offspring.

Brief introduction: On May 22, 2019, in the Flower and Bird Park in Weifang, Shandong Province, two "little brothers" with longitudinal abdomen owl were whispering intimately.

About author:Zhou Xiangji, who became a member of the China Photographers Association in 2010, graduated from the Jiangsu Provincial Journalism College in 1961, and has worked as a journalist, farmer, teacher, coal miner, and government cadre. After retiring, he studied photography, and more than 100 works won awards in international, national and provincial photography art competitions and were published in China Photography Magazine, Popular Photography Magazine, China Photography Newspaper, and was named "Wuxi Top Ten Photography" in 2007-2011.

In Search of An Oasis (Award of Excellence)

Description: Photographed in Argin on September 22, 2020, a lonely Tibetan yak walks in the sand dunes, as if looking for an oasis. Through the lens, the author conveys a strong signal that human behavior is closely related to wild animals. Overexploitation and grazing, resulting in soil erosion and grassland desertification, have seriously affected the living environment of wild animals, and the works call on people to protect nature, respect nature, and live in harmony with wild animals.
