"The Abyss"
Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center · Suspense drama
The suspenseful drama "The Abyss", directed by He Nian of Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center, has received a warm response from the audience since its premiere, and won four awards such as Best Innovative Drama at the 4th Chinese Drama Festival. This is a story that takes into account both "intrinsic reasoning" and "social reasoning", and the sudden crime triggers layers of mysteries, and in the process of peeling away the mystery, it expounds deep human and emotional themes.
3 floors + 17 performance spaces
Stage designers Sang Qi and Wang Jiadi created a multi-dimensional stage, with a 3-story small building on the stage, which completely copied a small town community in Chongqing in the 90s, and switched scenes by rotating the stage. The play also adopts a real-time photography approach, half image, half stage, and the audience's eyes can move between the stage and the big screen.
