Korean disaster films have always been the best in their genre. From the ferocity and human brilliance of the zombies in "Busan Trip" to the thrilling and thrilling self-rescue when trapped in the desperate situation in "Tunnel", all of them are amazing masterpieces.
But I didn't expect that the Korean disaster movie that has repeatedly produced blockbusters has actually turned over! The latest work "Sinkhole" has a rating of only 5.8 points, the story is low-minded, the laugh point is awkward, and the disaster film is made into a logical spoof comedy, which almost makes the audience laugh. Even if it won the "Korean single-day box office champion blockbuster" on the first day of release, it cannot hide the fact that this is a bad film.
The story begins with a middle-aged man named "Park Dong-won". Housing prices are so high that ordinary people can't buy a toilet in their lifetime, park Dong-won province has spent more than 10 years to finally buy his new home, so he is very happy.
But the good times were not long, and it was not long before Park Dong-won's son found that "the floor of the room is tilted", and the house was suspected of having architectural problems, which made people very panicked.
The camera turns away and comes to Park Dong-won's company. In order to celebrate Park Dong-won's move, colleagues led by Agent Kim went to Park Dong-won's house to celebrate, and Park Dong-won also called the drinking colleague "Jeong Man-so".
But no one expected that after a pleasant night, the glass of the house cracked for no reason, cracks appeared on the road, the earth suddenly collapsed, and the whole house instantly fell into a 500-meter deep pit.
On August 11, "The Ground Sinker" was released in South Korea. Cha Seung-won, Kim Sung-jun and Lee Kwang-so are all well-known actors in South Korea, so the film has attracted much attention.
As a disaster film, the film is very good at "the danger of the building falling": the panicked screams of the residents of the building when the rapid fall is imminent; the violent impact of the taxi on the building from the ground may endanger the lives of the residents if they are not careful; the human brilliance of the neighbors who are rescued regardless of the previous suspicions in the violent fall; the desperate after noticing that the wife may be in danger; the horror of the scene when the ground suddenly explodes; the anxiety of the rescue team and the concerns of other people around them.

The problem is that in addition to this, the 113-minute "Sinkhole" of the movie has no other points to watch, and it can even be said that the screen is full of shortcomings that make the audience complain, resulting in fog in the clouds after watching the story.
First, the story is too slow. In order to attract audiences, disaster films such as "Busan Trip" and "Tunnel" are basically released in the first 20 minutes of "high-energy disaster" clips. Looking at "Sinkhole"? The story is set in 34 minutes, and there are a lot of unnecessary water-length plots, which are protracted and uninteresting. The story was delayed in getting to the point, so it lost a lot of audience and praise.
Second, the narrative cannot grasp the key points, but the disaster film shoots many comedy sections, seriously dilutes the tension and excitement of the story, and the plot development is even more unreasonable.
If you hadn't seen it with your own eyes, you wouldn't have believed that the screenwriter would have written the terrible situation of "a tall building falling into a 500-meter pit unscathed, neither collapsing nor falling apart". Serious violation of physical common sense, low intelligence to make the audience laugh.

It is not easy for the plot to progress to the critical moment of "the ground collapsed for the second time, so the building next door also fell", and the crowd finally began to seriously save themselves, and there were too many inappropriate laughs and love lines.

Not to mention the sloppiness of the people when they were finally rescued. Not by the rescue team, but by the "water storage tank" that fell down with the second building. It just so happened that the ground was already leaking, so everyone got into the water storage tank and successfully floated to the ground.
In terms of plot, it is reasonable, but from the perspective of a disaster film, it is completely foolish to treat the audience as a low-intelligence fool, and hitting a low score becomes a reasonable thing.
In the film, Cha Shengyuan, Kim Sung-jun, and Lee Kwang-so are all very powerful actors, bringing to the audience many high-quality works such as "Best Love", "Please Answer 1988", "Voice of the Heart" and so on.
But it may be that there are too many comedy sections in the film, and it is incompatible with the positioning of disaster films. The actors could not find the right way to perform, and the acting skills presented were very exaggerated and poor, making the already low-quality film look and feel worse.
At the beginning of the film, the topic of "high housing prices" was well chosen, but unfortunately, this issue was not deeply explored in the follow-up story, which directly led to the story of Park Dong-won working hard for many years to buy a house in the first half of the story to become awkward and redundant.
Whether it is the creation of a horror atmosphere in a disaster film or the discussion of the realistic issue of high housing prices, "Sinking" is perfectly avoided, and such a bad film is not watched!
