The Great Eagle, a bird of the genus Hawks, is a large bird of prey. It inhabits areas such as mountains, foothill plains and grasslands, and in winter it is often found in farmland, villages, and even near cities in the low hills and foothill plains. They feed mainly on rodents, frogs, lizards, snakes, pikas and other animal foods. Because the giant eagle takes rodents and pikas as its main food, it also plays a great role in grassland protection and is a national second-level protected wild animal in China.
