On April 7, 1953, Yunnan Lancang Lahu Autonomous Region was established, and in 1955 it was changed to Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, after 70 years of blue strands, 70 years of forging ahead, and 70 years of brilliant achievements. On April 7, 2023, Lancang County celebrated its 70th birthday.
"The mountains and rivers, the sun and the moon engrave the original intention, and the spring and autumn of 70 years have written a new chapter." On April 7th, the 70th anniversary celebration meeting of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province kicked off at Mupami Hulu Square, the capital of Lancang County. The rushing Lancang River water has nurtured the industrious and brave Lahu nation, and the brilliant gourd myth and asparagus song and dance have created a Lahu nation that can sing and dance well.
In Lahushan Township, which has the reputation of "the root of Lahu in the world and the source of ancient tea for thousands of years", the festive atmosphere is rich and warm, and nearly 500 local ethnic compatriots dressed in the festival costumes of eight Lancang county residents, including Lahu and Wa, blow asparagus, and celebrate this beautiful day of great significance to Lancang.
The Lahu people take the gourd as a symbol, symbolizing the spiritual pursuit and auspicious happiness of the Lahu people who come out of the gourd and run towards the sun.
During the Lancang Lahu Hulu Festival, the villages where the local Lahu people gather spontaneously organize grand celebrations, as well as folk song and dance performances, spinning tops, pole climbing, mountain climbing and other activities.
At the celebration scene, everyone's faces were full of joy, Lancang ethnic folk songs and dances were displayed in a variety of styles, and folk art teams from various townships showed original national songs and dances.
Lahu songs such as asparagus, swing dance, divine drum, and mumpa mipa made the scene a sea of songs, showing Lahu culture and sending blessings to the county celebration.
Since the 70th anniversary of its founding, Lancang Lahu Autonomous County has achieved tremendous changes from poverty to wealth, from waste to industrial prosperity, from high shortage of materials to great abundance of products, from closed backwardness to the frontier of opening up, creating a historical miracle of "just a few decades, spanning thousands of years".
Playing asparagus for men and dancing for women are cultural customs of the Lahu people. The song "Asparagus Love Song", which once described the love story of the Lancang Lahu people, touched the world.
At the celebration site, Lahu guys blew asparagus and danced asparagus, which became a unique cultural scenery in Lahu Mountain Township. At the 2023 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the Lancang Lahu characteristic dance "Pose a Spring" surprised the national audience, and the original dancers perfectly reproduced the charm of the swing dance for the guests at the celebration meeting. It won warm applause and cheers from everyone.
