In 1955, he went to England to study, was enthusiastic about theater activities, and later entered the Hamster Drama Academy in the United Kingdom to study acting, and after graduation, he appeared in 4 BBC TV comedies. He returned to Hong Kong in 1970 and participated in film and television performances, starring in the first episode of the TV film "Stars" and hosting comedy shows, becoming a comedian. In 1975, he formed Pioneer Pictures as a starring and producer.

Wu Yaohan's last appearance on the screen was in the movie "When the Wind Rises" released in February this year, playing Cai Zhen (played by Du Juan) as the father.

According to Hong Kong media reports, Wu Yaohan's family confirmed the news of Wu Yaohan's death in a social group on April 10, saying that Wu's family had been notified by doctors that Wu Yiuhan might die on April 9 and told them to go to the hospital for one last meeting. In the hospital, his family prayed for him. After Wu Yaohan's heart stopped, he used an instrument to maintain the operation of his heart, and finally the doctor signed a paper confirming Wu Yaohan's death.

Two years ago, Wu Yaohan revealed in an interview with the media that he had stopped work for two years, and only had one percent of kidney function left, and he had to undergo daily dialysis, and his daily activities were limited to many restrictions. However, he said that doctors did not recommend that he change his kidney and that he was living with his wife and two daughters in a village house in Nam Wai.
