Distributed cloud technology drives cloud-native development

According to a survey by a third-party information agency, hybrid cloud has become one of the infrastructure models used in the government and enterprise markets. With the continuous popularization of the cloud, the next step of industrial digitalization and the development direction of the digital industry will be continuous investment in data and AI.

For the difference between distributed cloud and traditional multi-cloud, Jiang Fan introduced that the concept of distributed cloud was proposed in 2019, and a wide range of applications have appeared in recent years, and the traditional multi-cloud in the past mainly emphasizes the connectivity of the cloud at the network level, rather than the consistency of the cloud, which is to solve the problem of hybrid utilization of the cloud through application, and the distributed cloud emphasizes the consistency of the cloud. Under the distributed cloud architecture, different clouds need to have a consistent technical architecture, a consistent user experience, and a set of operation management systems, which makes the architectural model of the distributed cloud more conducive to cross-cloud resource scheduling efficiency. At the same time, based on its consistency, developers and partners can develop corresponding cloud-native applications on a single cloud and replicate them quickly on a large scale and on a large scale.

The concept of distributed cloud is proposed and developed

The origin of distributed cloud is that in December 2018, AWS first released Outputs, deploying a local cloud in Los Angeles. In June 2019, Gartner proposed the concept of distributed cloud for the first time, which is defined as a cloud service provider publishing public cloud services to different physical locations, and all physical locations of the cloud are governed, operated, and upgraded by this cloud service provider. In December 2019, Inspur Cloud proposed and defined distributed clouds in China for the first time. In May 2021, Inspur Cloud officially proposed a sub-"cloth cloud +" action plan.

Inspur Cloud's distributed architecture divides the deployment modes of clouds with different needs and scenarios into three types: central cloud, on-premises cloud, and edge cloud.

The central cloud is the public cloud, and the large public cloud nodes are mainly established in areas with good domestic network quality and concentrated business, and provide services to customers through the Internet.

The local cloud is the cloud deployed in a certain jurisdiction, such as the provincial government cloud to be deployed in the province, and the cloud of state-owned enterprises to be deployed in the state-owned enterprises. Due to national policy requirements and data security considerations, it often means that clouds in pan-government areas such as governments and state-owned enterprises need to be deployed on-premises. This is a natural scenario for local clouds.

At present, the application of edge cloud is mainly for the demand scenarios of near-field computing such as smart communities and smart campuses, which require low latency, local computing, or data sinking.

In May this year, Inspur Cloud officially launched the "Distributed Cloud +" action plan - 1+2+N+ ecology, that is, to create a distributed cloud with cloud network edge-end integration, cloud-data intelligence integration, and construction- management-transportation integration, focusing on the two key areas of digital government and industrial Internet, combined with the precipitation of Inspur Cloud's industry practice experience over the years, platform technology support for multiple business scenarios.

At the same time, Inspur Cloud has built an ecosystem system of two institutes and three centers around the strategy of distributed cloud, and established a standard research institute, a consulting and planning institute, a solution verification center, a developer support center, and a cloud native adaptation center to empower ecological partners and provide cloud support.

Cloud native is an inevitable trend in the development of applications

In 2020, due to the outbreak of the epidemic, government and enterprise customers have been promoted to use cloud native to improve the level of digital services. During the pandemic, 200 million students attend classes online, 250 million people work from home, and a huge amount of data pours into the line, posing a higher challenge to the support of government business, as well as the support of cloud computing.

IDC predicts that 50% of Chinese companies will deploy applications on hybrid or multi-cloud in 2023, and by 2024, 50% of large Chinese enterprises will rely on cloud-native application technology to build information support.

From the perspective of cloud-native development, traditional applications are more application-centric, or resource-centric, focusing on structured data to improve efficiency. Through the application to implement business requirements, this is the cloud stage, the application and resources in this stage are separated, resources only provide the basis of computing power, application is to solve business needs.

At the cloud stage, cloud-native applications change. Today's cloud-native applications are more for application scenarios based on concurrent access to massive customers, designing applications and developing applications with data as the center, and then using the elasticity and self-control capabilities of the cloud to provide bearers for applications and create value.

The rhythm from cloud to cloud changes in stages. At the beginning, the cloud solved the problem of the chimney decentralized physical resource intensive construction, all small computer rooms, inefficient computer rooms, into large, efficient computer rooms, while using the cloud platform instead of physical resources, to achieve IaaS level of resource integration, but the original deployment on the single machine of the physical server, now deployed on the cloud platform, applications and middleware have not changed. With the development of the cloud, the focus of customers has gradually shifted upwards, and under the condition of keeping IaaS unchanged, the ability of the cloud is used to build middleware and use PaaS services, and then the technology of containers is used to achieve microservice transformation at the application level to a greater extent, combined with IaaS and PaaS capabilities to achieve the transformation of the entire cloud native.
