In 943, his grandfather died of illness and his father succeeded him. Li Yu and his five brothers became princes, and their original close relationship went to intrigue. In order to escape cholera, he called himself "Lianfeng Jushi", saying that he was interested in mountains and rivers and had no intention of taking the throne.
Li Yu's brother Hongji made battle merits in his early years and was made crown prince. However, Li Yu's father vowed to pass the throne to his younger brother. Hongji was worried about this, and for fear of an accident, he secretly killed his uncle. But the good times did not last long, and after his uncle died, Hongji also died.
The throne of the Southern Tang Dynasty of the weak state fell to Li Yu. After Li Yu succeeded to the throne, he made a clever decision and wrote to the powerful Northern Song Dynasty Zhao Kuangyin, saying that he had no intention of taking the throne, and that the weak state in Jiangnan could not influence him, and would pay tribute to the Northern Song Dynasty every year with a large amount of gold and silver jewelry. The Southern Tang on the outside seems to be weak in winning, but inside it is actually training troops and stockpiling food. In 971, after the Southern Song Dynasty destroyed the Southern Han Dynasty, the Southern Tang was in danger, and Li Yu hurriedly wrote to express his loyalty. However, Zhao Kuangyin did not allow forces to prevent him from completing the great cause of reunification. In 976, Li Yu was captured and the Southern Tang state was killed.
The wheel of history rolls forward, and Li Yu is also "unable to help himself". Maybe he's not a good monarch, but he's a good lyricist.
Li Yu's poetry combines the pain of life with the pain of governing the country, and he has high achievements in art.

Li Yu immediately put away his thoughts, ran to the side of the emperor's bed every day to bring tea and water, and took care of it every day. Because the emperor was ill, he could not personally take care of his young son, but while the younger son and his brother were playing in the other courtyard, the wild cat frightened the younger son, and since then the high fever has not subsided, and he has died.
This heavy blow made Empress's condition serious again. At the age of 29, she finally lost her fragrance in her palace.
Li Yu was guilty and painful, and wrote many poems to express his longing for the emperor.
