Wang Ying, formerly known as Yu Zhihua, is a native of Wuhu City, Anhui Province. Wang Ying's childhood was very tragic, originally the Yu family was a declining scholarly disciple, and her mother was quite talented and began to teach her daughter to read very early.
Her aunt named her niece Wang Keqin, and in order to live, Wang Ying went to Xiangya Nursing School to study. Xiangya Nursing School is a church school, and Wang Ying has laid a solid foundation in English in this school.
Due to her poor birth, Wang Ying's thinking is progressive, and her heart is inclined to revolution. After the April 12 incident, Wang Ying went to Shanghai to join the "Relief Society", a peripheral organization of the Communist Party. At this time, Wang Keqin had already been on the blacklist of the "Qing Party", and the writer Xie Bingying took the word "Ying" in her name and renamed Wang Keqin Wang Ying, which means white and transparent.
Wang Ying became acquainted with left-wing dramatists such as Xia Yan, Hong Shen, and Yang Hansheng at the Ji'an Association, and they discovered that Wang Ying had a talent for acting. Therefore, Xia Yan and others decided to train Wang Ying to become the backbone of drama, helping her to enter Shanghai University of the Arts, Fudan University, Jinan University and China Public School to study drama and literature.
In 1930, the year Wang Ying entered college, she joined the Chinese Communist Party at the age of 17. Through her own efforts and understanding, Wang Ying's performance skills have been greatly improved. When Wang Ying was in the Shanghai Art Drama Club, she starred in the drama Milton's "Charcoal Miner", and began her artistic career.
In 1932, the film group headed by Comrade Xia Xing entered the film industry and introduced many new literary and art workers of the "Left Wing Drama Society" to join the film company, and Wang Ying naturally joined this big family. Wang Ying's first film was "The Scream of Women" written and directed by Shen Xicen.
The film is based on Xia Yan's "The Bonded Worker," the first film in the history of Chinese cinema to portray workers' lives in a positive light. Wang Ying starred as Ye Lian, a contractor in "Bonded Worker", and her skillful acting skills were well received by left-wing film critics and recognized by many audiences.
The second film in which Wang Ying participated was "Iron Plate Red Tears" created by Yang Hansheng. Wang Ying plays Xiaozhu, the daughter of a poor peasant, in the film. After the release of "Iron Plate Red Tears", it caused a sensation in the entire film industry, and newspapers and periodicals around the world unanimously praised the film's great artistic achievements in ideology and art.
The third film starring Wang Ying is "Same Hatred", which is a story with the theme of unity and resistance against Japan, praising the heroine Xiao Fen for abandoning her former vendetta and welcoming young officers who abandoned themselves to the front line to kill the enemy.
