Study hard to become a "cheng pai successor"

Chi Xiaoqiu, whose original name was Chi Shuxin, was born in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, to an ordinary peasant family. She was able to sing and dance since she was a child, and at the age of 11, she was admitted to the Fuxin Drama School and began to learn the road of art.

It is said that "one minute on stage, ten years offstage", Chi Xiaoqiu knows that there is no shortcut to art. With a stubborn drilling force, she studied literature and martial arts together, and every day she got up half an hour earlier than her classmates to practice.

In 1981, Chi Xiaoqiu graduated from the drama school with honors and was assigned to the Peking Opera Troupe in Fuxin City as an actor. Because of her outstanding personal conditions, the organization sent her to Shanghai to learn drama with Wang Yinqiu, a disciple of Cheng Chuan.

Chi Xiaoqiu cherished the opportunity given by the organization and practiced harder. Every day at 4:30 a.m., she goes to the rooftop to play, hang her voice, listen to the recording, and do not rest when it is windy and snowy. She has practiced basic skills such as water sleeves and lying fish at least tens of thousands of times. The hard training laid a solid foundation for her performance, and also left a lot of pain in her body.

In 1983, seeing Chi Xiaoqiu's talent and being even more impressed by her diligence, Wang Yinqiu officially accepted Chi Xiaoqiu as an apprentice. Under the guidance of her mentor, her skills have improved considerably.

In 1984, at the age of 19, Chi Xiaoqiu performed Cheng Pai's classic play "SuoLin Nang" in Beijing, winning the second Chinese Drama "Plum Blossom Award" in one fell swoop, becoming the youngest actor to win this honor, a record that has not been broken so far. Her beautiful singing voice and figure have also won the appreciation of experts in the opera industry, and she has been praised by the dramatist Mr. Weng Yihong as "the standard successor of the Cheng School".

Beijing trajectory

Teach the best of the nation

Under the fame, Chi Xiaoqiu did not stop moving forward. At the end of the 1980s, film and television culture impacted traditional Peking Opera, and many colleagues and classmates could not hold on, singing popular songs and walking around, but Chi Xiaoqiu insisted on staying in the Fuxin Peking Opera Troupe.

In 2005, in order to promote the better development of Peking Opera, Chi Xiaoqiu, who had passed the age of confusion, resolutely came to Beijing, joined the Beijing Opera House, and competed for a post to become the leader of the Youth League of the Beijing Opera House. In Beijing, Chi Xiaoqiu did not forget the cultivation of the party organization, but also kept in mind the teachings of the mentor, and always trained a new generation of Peking opera actors in the inheritance method of "passing on the help and leading", and taught his skills without reservation.

With the state's attention and support for the art of Peking Opera, Chi Xiaoqiu was pleased to find that in recent years, there have been more and more young audiences in the theater.

"To create opportunities for young people to get in touch with Peking Opera, it is necessary to use artistic works to let more audiences and young people enter the theater." As the inheritor of the Cheng school of art, Chi Xiaoqiu regarded the promotion of Peking Opera to young people as his unshirkable responsibility. In 2019, she included the singing scores of 10 masterpieces such as the traditional Peking Opera "Suolin Capsule" and the modern Peking Opera "Song Family Sisters" into the album "Cheng Yan Qianqiu", hoping to permanently preserve the traditional national essence in the form of modern audio-visual products.

Volunteer

Do your best to give back to society

Chi Xiaoqiu always said that she was the daughter of a farmer, and she was already a famous Peking Opera artist, and she did not have a little shelf, and always maintained the low-key and frugal style of a peasant girl. "My father was a village branch secretary, and his hard-working style had a great influence on me. The achievements I have made over the years are inseparable from the care and cultivation given to me by the party and leaders from all walks of life, and I always have a sense of responsibility in my heart and do my best to repay the society. ”

From 1985 to the present, Chi Xiaoqiu has joined the Communist Party of China for 36 years. She has never forgotten the mission she shoulders, in addition to inheriting and carrying forward the traditional repertoire, in recent years she has also adhered to the direction of advanced socialist culture in artistic creation, created modern plays such as "Song Family Sisters" and "Judge's Mother", combined the artistic style of the Cheng School with the promotion of the heroic deeds of the ancestors and martyrs, and passed on patriotic feelings to the young generation in the form of drama.
