"Nope" will premiere a year later, on July 22, 2022. The poster provided a name, but did not reveal more about Peel's next directorial work. Posters show a dark cloud hanging over a small town that appears to be dragging a string of triangular flags that people often see at car dealerships. One tagline called the film Peel "a new horror from the heart." The filmmaker tweeted a simple cloud emoji.

"Nope" will be starring Daniel Kaluuya, who also starred in Peele's 2017 directorial debut, Get Out; other stars in the film include Kirk Palmo; and Steven Yuan, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2021. Posters show that the film was only released in theaters.

Writer and director Peel won him an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for "Breaking Bad". He then directed Us, another horror thriller. Before he began directing horror films, Peel wrote and starred in Comedy Central's Key and Peel series.
