Early warning! When sandstorms strike, do a good job of protection, these 4 things must be remembered

From March 20 to March 23, the largest dust day in the north this year hit. There are blowing sand or floating dust weather in many places in the north, and sandstorms and strong sandstorms in local areas. Affected by foreign sand and dust, Beijing was seriously polluted at 6 o'clock on March 22.

First, sandstorm yellow warning! Beijing has reached serious pollution!

The Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a yellow warning for sandstorms at 06:00 on March 22:

Affected by cold air and strong winds, it is expected that from 08 o'clock on March 22 to 08 o'clock on March 23, there will be sandstorms in parts of southern Xinjiang, northern Qinghai, south-central Gansu, Ningxia, most of Inner Mongolia, most of Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, central and western Heilongjiang, central and western Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, Henan, northern Jiangsu, northern Anhui, northern Hubei and other places, among which, there are sandstorms in parts of southeastern Inner Mongolia, Beijing, northern Tianjin, north-central Hebei and other places, and strong sandstorms in local areas.

According to live data at 6 a.m. on March 22, Beijing's air quality has reached a severely polluted level.

The Beijing Meteorological Observatory upgraded to issue a yellow sandstorm warning signal at 5:40 on March 22: At present, the city has obvious dust weather, and it is expected that from now to noon on March 22, the minimum visibility in most areas will be less than 1000 meters.

Second, cold air brings strong winds to cool down, and the largest sand and dust in the north this year

According to the website of the Central Meteorological Observatory, from March 21 to March 23, affected by cold air, there were 4~6 northerly winds in northeast China, Inner Mongolia, North China, Northeast China and other places, gusts of 7~9, most of the above areas had 4~6 °C cooling, some areas above 10 °C, accompanied by a large range of dust weather.

On March 21, the air quality in Yinchuan, Baotou and other places was seriously polluted, among which the air quality index of many cities such as Lanzhou and Xining exploded.

From March 21 to March 22, the impact of sand and dust will expand to the east, with sand or floating dust weather in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the central and western regions of Northeast China, of which the main period of Beijing sand and dust weather is from the early morning to the morning period of March 22, and travel in the morning peak may be affected. This will be the third sand and dust weather in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei this year, and it is also the largest sand and dust process in the north.

The specific timeline of dust impacts is as follows:

By the morning of March 22

There are sandstorms or floating dust in parts of north-central Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, southwestern Heilongjiang, western Jilin, western Liaoning and other places, among which, there are sandstorms in the northerner areas of central and western Inner Mongolia, and strong sandstorms in local areas;

Around noon on March 22

began to affect Henan, Shandong and other places;

During the day, March 23

The dust weather gradually weakened, and the impact tended to end.

3. Why is the northern sand and dust weather so frequent this year?

Zhang Juan, a meteorological analyst at China Weather Network, said that since March, most of the northern part of the mainland has had less precipitation, and the temperature in sand sources such as Mongolia and the northwest of the mainland is significantly higher, and the surface is basically no snow cover, once there is cold air intrusion, it is easy to cause sand and dust weather.

Fourth, not all dust weather is called a sandstorm

Whenever the sky turns yellow and dust floats in the air, some people think: a sandstorm is coming!

In fact, not all dust weather is a dust storm. Only when the dust weather reaches a certain intensity can it be called a dust storm. In meteorology, according to the impact from light to heavy, sand and dust weather can be divided into floating dust, blowing sand, sandstorm, strong sandstorm and extra strong sandstorm.

Sandstorms, especially particularly strong ones, are extremely harmful and disastrous weather. When a dust storm hits, the meteorological department issues a corresponding warning.

According to the current national warning release standards, the sandstorm warning issued by the Central Meteorological Observatory is divided into three levels: sandstorm blue, yellow, orange warning, the warning color from light to dark, representing the degree of impact and defense level is getting higher and higher.

5. Sand and dust are coming! Please put this protection guide away!

Sand and dust weather will cause air quality to decrease, seriously affecting people's daily life, and will also have a certain impact on the ecological environment and some facilities agriculture. Once you receive a sandstorm warning issued by the meteorological department, please take preventive measures in time to reduce the adverse effects of sand and dust.

The elderly, children, pregnant women, people with respiratory diseases and cardiovascular diseases are sensitive groups, should try to avoid going out in dusty weather, if chronic cough with sputum or shortness of breath, episodic wheezing and chest pain need to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
