Directed by Lin Tianyi, written by Jian Yuanxin, and starring Chen Haomin, Xuan Xuan, Xinzi and Zhang Liang, the 48-episode costume romance TV series "Xue Pinggui and Wang Baojun" will soon land on Guangdong Satellite TV Morning Theater.
The drama tells the love story between Xue Pinggui and Wang Baojun, and this TV series adapted from classic folklore is not only quite changed, the lines are modern, and even have street dance elements.
"Xue Pinggui and Wang Baojun" tells the story of the true love of xue pinggui, the prince of the exiles, and Baojun, the king of Xiangguo Qianjin, who has endured hardships and is not afraid of power. During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Yu and Liu Erfei competed for favors, and Liu Fei gave birth to a prince to attract Yu Concubine's killing chance. Concubine Yu took advantage of Emperor Xuanzong's outing to kill Concubine Liu and the crown prince. The eunuch Ye Xing fled the palace with the crown prince, and Concubine Liu committed suicide to avoid Concubine Yu's humiliation. When Concubine Yu learned that Prince Ye Xing had escaped from the palace, she ordered someone to pursue and kill him. When Emperor Xuanzong returned to the palace and learned of this, he ordered Concubine Yu to be executed, and sent someone to look for Ye Xing and the crown prince, but Ye Xing was hunted down and killed. At the end of his life, Xue Hao took care of him, and the crown prince changed his surname to Xue pinggui.
Because the story of Xue Pinggui and Wang Baojun spans 18 years, Xuan Xuan and Chen Haomin, who are more than 40 years old, have to start acting from their teens, and are inevitably labeled as "tender" and questioned by the audience.
In the face of various doubts, screenwriter Jian Yuanxin said that he rewrote the classic story from his own perspective, just to try to fit the viewing habits of modern audiences. "Previously, only the folding opera and Peking opera had shown the legend of Xue Pinggui and Wang Baojun, but the stories in the opera were many incomplete and unreasonable, so in Xue Pinggui's life, I 'did a little bit of work' to make up Xue Pinggui's life, but also to rationalize his experience, and at the same time add new contradictions and conflicts to the TV series."
