author:timetrees

It is a lesser-known temple located on the historic island of Ayutthaya where the Linden tree extension introduced from Sri Lanka was planted on the temple's premises. It can be said to be the originator of the great Thai city of Bodhi!

Located on the historic island of Ayutthaya and opposite Wat Worachettaram (วัดวรเชษฐาราม), Wat Worapho is an abandoned temple with walls surrounding a partially collapsed Prang (stupa).

At first, a wall separated the Prang from the rest of the buildings. Now only the pedestal and some fragments of the statue remain

It is a temple located in the west of the ancient palace. There is no evidence of when it was built. According to chronicles, it was originally called "Wat Rakan". When Thai monks traveled to Lanka to spread Buddhism, they brought back bamboo shoots and planted them at the temple, which has since been renamed "Wat Worabophit".

The ruins of this temple are in Ayutthaya Historical Park. Due to the relatively small scale and the relatively single type of building, it is not too famous. There are three Buddha statues, as well as the ruins of a moving temple that is about to collapse.

The information board does not state the date of construction of this temple. However, its current name dates back to the 18th century, shortly before the fall of the kingdom, when linden trees from the island of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) were planted inside the temple.

There is also a temple [Wat Worachettharam] nearby, arriving at 7 am, dew on the grass, fresh air, you can park at the entrance and walk a short distance. The grass on the grounds is very level, there are no stones, there are no dogs, and the elderly can walk easily and safely

The temple itself is not large, only an ancient tower and a dilapidated Ubosot with no roof, as seen in the photos. The interior is clean, there is no garbage for worship, and some red flowers make the mood pleasant. It is an ancient temple that is believed to have been built in the middle of the Ayutthaya period. The temple is beautiful, clean, shady, not too crowded, and a comfortable place to visit. Visitors can easily walk around and also see other temples on the island. The temple does not charge admission and has a large courtyard with a magnificent main hall and a small ancient tower. It is definitely worth seeing this temple with your own eyes. The main structure of the temple is a large bell-shaped tower with a broad, convex and inward-drawn base, which is about 20-22 centuries old. In front of the tower, there is a shrine with a broken top, but the façade is decorated with cup-shaped decorations or window designs popular in the late Ayutthaya period (23rd Buddhist era). Next to it is another building with a pagoda-shaped roof.

Reclining Buddha Monastery

The reclining Buddha in the reclining Buddha monastery was introduced in a recent article written by the editor, because it is very large, so I wrote a special article, but the temple behind the reclining Buddha is also worth taking pictures Oh, although there are not many left, only some ruins and the base of the stone pillar, very desolate. If you are interested, you can stop to visit and take pictures, you do not need to buy a ticket.

Although the reclining Buddha is now lying there alone (the back of the reclining Buddha is behind the picture above), and there is this tall tower behind it, which looks a little lonely, the incense here is very strong, and all tourists also show great reverence for it.

The above is the introduction of the reclining Buddha monastery area in the big city of Thailand, each small place is actually more than two o'clock, I spent a day to visit, but because of the sun, many places can not slowly appreciate ~ In fact, it is very similar to the feeling of Myanmar, can only get up early or go in the evening, and have to die at noon~

Thailand believes in Buddhism, and Ayutthaya is a place of architecture and Buddhism or spiritual beliefs, if you are afraid of tiredness and heat, I recommend that you do not come specifically. But if you're interested in the above pictures (i.e. the most ordinary corner of the city), you can really check it out! Be sure to find a travel companion who also likes it
