Chelsea legend John Terry appeared to have confused his last match date in an Instagram post – confusing fans.
The front-back uploaded multiple photos of his last game at the Blues on Thursday morning with the caption: "On this day of 2018, I played my last game for @chelseafc,"
But fans were quick to point out that their former captain and leader had misled the time of his last appearance for Chelsea.
One fan wrote: "Wasn't the last game of 2017 in April?" "The last match was on May 21, wasn't it?" [sic] '
In fact, after a 22-year career for the Blues, Terry did bid farewell to Chelsea on 21 May 2017.
The Premier League champions ended the season with a 5-1 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.
The former centre-back was replaced in the 26th minute and was paraded off by his teammates. Speaking on the pitch after the game, he thanked supporters, his team-mates, head coach Antonio Conte and boss Romain Abramovic.
The 40-year-old appears to have confused this period with the date of his retirement, which was on October 7, 2018.
Behind the curtain on a brilliant career for the Blues, Terry joined Aston Villa in 2017-18 and hung up his boots a few months after leaving the club.
