Wang Peiyuan was born in 1949 and also came from a family of qu artists. His father, Wang Qisheng, was a famous storyteller and Xihe drum performance artist, and his father's apprentice Tian Lianyuan was also a famous storyteller performance artist. In 1984, Wang Peiyuan participated in the national cross-talk observation performance and cooperated with Chang Baofeng to perform "Not a Satirical Referee", which received a great response.
Chang Guitian and Wang Peiyuan each had their own partners before the cooperation. Chang Guitian cooperated with Chang Baohua to create and perform "Hat Factory" and "Dog-Headed Army Division Zhang", and together with Ma Ji and Tang Jiezhong's "White Bone Essence Appearance" and "Stage Wind and Thunder", they jointly created a precedent for cross-talk works to lash out at the crimes of the "Gang of Four" to bring calamity to the country and the people.
