As it ages, it becomes difficult to maintain management, and the site will be sold to the city for renovation as a park. Citizens and fans of history have expressed their hope to leave a valuable historical legacy, but more than 630 years of history have come to an end.
According to the History of Gangnam City, etc., Yoshinori was the daughter of the powerful local Ikoma clan. Founded in 1384, the temple is the Bodhi Temple of the Ikoma family. While living in the Ikoma family's mansion, Ginai met Nobunaga and became a side room. He had the eldest son, Nobunaga, the second son, Nobuo, and a daughter, who later became Tokugawa Ieyasu's eldest son, Nobuyasu, and tokuhime, wife. Nobunaga has no children with Masamune and Nagisa, and Gino has a strong presence in the Oda family. Legend has it that Nobunaga, who died at a young age, was shed tears of regret for her death. Nobunaga is said to have supplied 660 stones to the temple as incense money.
The temple's current main hall was built in 1925. The living room is not known, but it is believed to be of the Edo period. The tomb of Kino on the west side of the temple, together with the tomb of the head of the Ikoma family, has been designated as a municipal cultural property and cannot be the object of demolition and sale this time. After the temple is demolished, the tombstone will continue to stand, and how to preserve and inherit it has become a problem.
According to Mr. Hideo Iko, the 48-year-old head of the 19th generation of Ikoma family members who own the temple, the temple has not had an exclusive abbot since 60 years ago, and there are 10 tan families. Long-term maintenance management became a problem, and discussions about demolition began about 5 years ago. There are problems with earthquake resistance and rain leakage, but from the perspective of cost, renovation is difficult. The tablets of Ginai and Nobunaga, which are located in the main hall, have been transferred to other temples and other places, and Mr. Hideo said: "Bodhi Temple, which has a relationship with Nobunaga and is the ancestral temple, has a long history, so I want to keep it, but there are very few donors, and financially I have no choice." ”
According to the city, the south side of the temple's courtyard is in 1992, and the north side is the Jiuchang temple park that began to be lent to the city for free in 2012. In August 2020, the owner transferred the free leased land to the municipal government free of charge, asking the municipal government to acquire about 1,600 square meters of the old site after the demolition of the main hall and warehouse. The municipality and the owner repeatedly negotiated and decided on the purchase policy.
At the September regular meeting held on September 2, the land appraisal and survey budget totaled about 590,000 yen. It is said that it will be demolished and acquired in 2022 and renovated as a park in 2023.
President Keiichi Kawada, who served as a volunteer group for tour guides at the temple, said, "The temple that conveys history has disappeared, making people feel very lonely. If only you could collect maintenance fees." On this basis, he also hopes that "in order not to be forgotten, it is hoped that a place to convey the message of the temple will be built somewhere."
