After descending the mountain, Zhuangzi went to visit a friend who lived at the foot of the mountain. The friend was very happy to see Zhuangzi, so he asked the child servant to kill a goose to entertain Zhuangzi. The child servant asked: "Two geese, one can bark, the other can't, which one to kill?" ”
The owner said: "Keep the housekeeper who can call, and it is useless to call it, just kill it." ”
One day later, Zhuangzi's students asked Zhuangzi very suspiciously about these two things: "The big tree I saw yesterday in the mountains and forests was able to enjoy its life because of its bad shape, but now the master's goose is being slaughtered because it can't bark. ”
Zhuangzi smiled and said, "I will be somewhere between useful and useless. Between useful and useless, it seems to be similar to the Tao, but it is not, so it is still inevitable to be involved. If you could really go with nature and travel outside of the world, it wouldn't be like this.
Without praise or criticism, he appeared like a dragon or a serpent when he was born, changing with the times, and was unwilling to be restricted for a particular purpose; In the world, you can advance or retreat, be in harmony with nature, and freely wander in the root of all things; How can there be any burden in the domination of all things and not being enslaved by foreign things! This is the law of Shennong and the Yellow Emperor governing the world!
"As for the private affection of all things, human habit is not like that. Where there is aggregation, there is separation, where there is success, there is destruction, where there is sharpness, there is bruise, there is noble and there is exclusion, there is something that is deficient, the virtuous will be calculated, and the unscrupulous will be bullied, so how can one be paranoid about either side? Sad! Students should remember that only going with nature is the ideal state! ”
