polar region

At the end of November, the Heihe sky darkened quickly, and at four o'clock in the afternoon, the night was like a thick fog, quickly wrapping everything in the snow, and stars had already appeared in the sky. The temperature dropped to minus 15 degrees, and the people gathered in this snow had a personal experience of the cold, and the cold air on the surface passed through the soles of their shoes and rushed straight to their bodies, and they only had to stand in the snow for ten minutes, and their feet were numb.

It was November 2020, and the crew of the TV series "Three-Body Problem" was stationed in Heihe, Heilongjiang, for filming the Red Bank base. The Red Bank Base is one of the most important scenes in the original book of "The Three-Body Problem", and everything happens from this. But for this crew, the northeast is the last stop of their shooting, and they have to grit their teeth to finish the final scene.

Every day, the chief director Yang Lei has to stay in such an environment for more than ten hours. Wearing a thick down jacket and a plush hat over his head, he ran between the field and the tent, the frost on his brow melting and melting. Time waits for no one, Heihe is getting colder day by day, and the temperature is dropping every day, reaching minus 30 degrees. In order to ensure the power of the shooting equipment, there are only three radiators on site, which must warm the hundreds of people here. Far from the city, food is delivered by logistics and by car, mostly frozen dumplings, instant noodles and cold bento. Yang Lei knew that it was a very "terrifying" thing to expose the whole group to work in such an environment.

Insisting on the real scene is the idea that all the main creators of the "Three-Body Problem" crew hit it off. For a sci-fi theme like "The Three-Body Problem", the more realistic the details, the more believable it is. Chief producer Bai Yiqi remembers that the tone was set in the early internal meetings, to use realistic techniques to film, as far as possible to achieve real-life shooting, "There are indeed many convenient places to shoot the scene, but the charm of the real scene is too great, it has a sense of realism that cannot be refused, and it will surprise you." Bai Yiqi said.

This path is clearly not so easy to follow.

Heihe is one of the cities with the highest latitude in the country and is suitable for shooting snowy scenes, which is why they chose Heihe as the shooting location. In September of that year, Heihe already had thick snow, but when the crew arrived at Heihe, it was so stingy that not a single grain of snow fell. The crew panicked and quickly dispatched snow guns from nearby cities, pulling almost all the snow guns in the three eastern provinces to Heihe.

The snow sprayed by the snow gun is different from the real snow, and the snow particles hit the body and quickly condense into a layer of ice. After the actors finished filming one, they had to rely on several people next to them to help them remove their hard clothes, change one and shoot again.

What's even more frightening is that the temperature on site is simply not enough to support the operation of these machines. On the first night of shooting, all the snow guns' pipes were frozen into large ice lumps, and none of them worked. As long as any device is exposed to the outdoors for more than 3 minutes, it can no longer be started, Yang recalled, "It was a nightmare." He made more plans for the extremely cold environment, and let the crew buy many hot air cannons and blow hard at these machines to ensure the continuation of filming.

Visual director Lu Beike said, "You said how convenient it is to use CG, it takes so much effort." Yang Lei laughed when he heard this. But the joke was over, and the two of them braved the cold wind and devoted themselves to the shooting of the real scene. In order to make the most suitable degree of opening and closing of a door, Yang Lei tried various methods, such as using a fishing line to pull the door, or asking people to lie down and open the door by hand. This shot was repeatedly shot seven or eight times, lasting half an hour, and Yang Lei was satisfied. Shooting shots of actors coming to the wind, the wind must blow to the hair, and they can't let the hair paste their faces, they have to constantly debug, and carefully control the air volume. Yang Lei said, "Some plays are advanced by lines, and you can solve many problems just by listening to the lines, but "The Three-Body Problem" is not, it has a lot of atmosphere and character psychology. An angle or even a light must be in that position, and the most accurate details must be found so that the audience can experience it."

To convince the audience that the scene is real, everything in sight must be real. He has done a detailed investigation, and the story takes place in the northeast in 1969, what people wear, what they do, and what songs they sing, all of which will become the atmosphere that permeates the surrounding area during the shooting. He pursues these extreme details to return the people in the play to the land and to the original point.

Sometimes, he and Bai Yiqi stood on the snowy hillside and thought to each other, "Lean, next time I won't shoot the real scene, it's too difficult." A few days later, I encountered a wonderful picture, and I felt that these efforts were worth it.

In the crew, more time is spent waiting, waiting for the snowmaking water to arrive, waiting for the actors to put on makeup and changing clothes, and waiting for the equipment to be baked up again. While waiting, the crew waved their hands and stomped their feet in the middle of the snow. They talked about the constellations and life in the dark sky of the Black River, so that the wait was less bitter and difficult. After a while, someone was singing on the snow, and everyone beat him up. Yang Lei was a little childish, in order to make everyone's state less tense, when he was resting, he played with them and wanted to bury each other in the snow. They don't want to be stretched all the time, shooting science fiction is always a romantic thing.

Because of uncontrollable circumstances that appeared one after another, the scene that was originally expected to be filmed in 13 days had to be postponed again. The days in Heihe are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. Dragging an air-conditioner back to the hotel every day, the crew also had to make a plan for the next day's shooting. In the polar regions, any kind of accident and surprise can happen, and to achieve the best shooting effect, everyone must have the patience and tenacity to survive. In the final analysis, they all have only one simple idea: since they have the opportunity to do "The Three-Body Problem", they can't be sorry for this work.

And this is almost the epitome of the seven years of the "Three-Body Problem" TV series project.

Dream Making "The Three-Body Problem": How high-quality sci-fi dramas are refined

When filming the scene where Ye Wenjie first arrived at the Red Bank base, the angle of light and shadow and wind and snow were adjusted and tried many times.

start

In 2016, when Youzu Pictures was looking for a partner who could co-develop the "Three-Body Problem" TV series, Sun Zhonghuai, vice president of Tencent and CEO of Tencent Online Video, noticed the message. He was a fan of "The Three-Body Problem", and at that time the boom in streaming and IP adaptations was on the rise, he thought, it is better to seize this development opportunity.

Sun Zhonghuai later described himself at that time, "This was a more emotional decision, took a lot of risks, and was not in line with my usual relatively rational style of doing things." At the decision-making meeting within Tencent Video, the participants were very divided. Opponents believe that the development of "The Three-Body Problem" is a very risky decision, the sci-fi genre is difficult to control, and it is extremely niche in the Chinese market. These considerations are realistic and logical, but Sun Zhonghuai still does not want to give up, "I always feel that if we don't develop and hand it over to others, we are not very willing."

He has a special preference for science fiction works, and has a complex for the universe and galaxies. In his opinion, Liu Cixin's works are the crown of the field of science fiction, and "The Three-Body Problem" is the jewel in the crown, "Although the science fiction theme is a small track and classification, this work is circle-breaking from the perspective of fiction, and the public recognition is very high." Its deep connection with sociology and real life is the reason why it is grounded, and it has many unique features." At the end of the decision-making meeting, he still made up his mind to develop the "Three-Body Problem" drama version. "I think we do it slowly, and one day we can do it well, even if it is difficult, we want to do it."

At the end of this year, Tencent Video Platform obtained the development rights of "The Three-Body Problem" and began to look for a production company. Based on the past cooperation experience with Bai Yiqing's "Darker", Tencent Video finally selected Linghe Culture and officially launched the development of the "Three-Body Problem" TV series.

Tencent video producer Wang Tiexian joined the "Three-Body Problem" project in April 2019, when the director was still undecided, and he and Bai Yiqing traveled around the country looking for directors and hitting walls everywhere. The "Three-Body Problem" project is too solemn, and they dare not use a new director; Try to find some head directors, but worry that the director himself does not understand "The Three-Body Problem" thoroughly, and cannot express it in audiovisual language. After thinking about it, they sent invitations to some directors, but received some rejections. One big director gave the reason, "I have a reverence for this work, and out of this awe, I don't dare to touch it."

In June 2019, Bai Yiqian met his old friend Yang Lei at the Shanghai TV Festival. Mentioning that the director of "The Three-Body Problem" has not yet landed, Bai Yiqian asked Yang Lei if he was interested. A month later, he received Yang Lei's call to "pluck up courage", "If you haven't found anyone else for this matter, I'll come."

After the Shanghai TV Festival, Wang Tiexian asked Yang Lei to meet in Beijing. On the night they met, they got a little drunk and talked about "The Three-Body Problem", and everyone was emotional, telling the most memorable passages and famous scenes in "The Three-Body Problem", "What can be done in the "Three-Body Problem" TV series together". Wang Tiexian always remembers that night, he and Yang Lei empathized, they both cherished and enthusiastic about the work "The Three-Body Problem".

Later, Yang Lei sent a long letter to Tencent Video, in addition to the director's elaboration of the play, he also wrote down his memories and emotions for "The Three-Body Problem", "If it is the honor of my career to be able to make "The Three-Body Problem", so I thought for a long time and made this request to you, no matter what the result is, at least I have no regrets in this life."

The long letter also moved Li Eryun, deputy general manager of Tencent's online video film and television content production department and chief producer of "The Three-Body Problem", and she also thought that Yang Lei and visual director Lu Beike are long-term partners, with sufficient trust and tacit understanding, and the special effects part of the three-body can also be better landed. She suggested, "Since the director has not yet been decided, let's fix Yang Lei."

Dream Making "The Three-Body Problem": How high-quality sci-fi dramas are refined

The crew filmed part of the scene of the Red Bank base, where the snow made by the snow guns was different from the real snow, and the branches were covered with ballast.

Detour

In the face of a work of the size of "The Three-Body Problem", no one has experience. From the beginning of the production of this project, the chief producer Bai Yiqian and the chief screenwriter Tian Liangliang were worried, what kind of way to shoot? How should this story be told?

The "stupid solution" they think of is to exhaust all the conceivable solutions.

One of the versions is a pure sci-fi film with high visual impact, using elements of high-dimensional space in the last two parts of "The Three-Body Problem", such as people in the play going out in cars, using driverless taxis, and using VR and AR equipment. But after this version was made, everyone was not very satisfied, and it was detached from the real life experience of the audience. In another version, the screenwriters also tried to add more elements of criminal investigation and investigation to the line of Wang Miao and Shi Qiang, and a little more suspense and tension. There is even a version in which Yang Dong's character appears in the image of a quantum state.

In more than a year, the screenwriting team has polished out more than 20 versions. For screenwriter Tian Liangliang, 2017 was the most difficult stage for the entire screenwriting team, everyone gathered in a huge conference room, repeating daily and night brainstorming, silence and arguments. The conference room is very large, which makes them very small, "there is no sense of decline".

There was a staircase outside the conference room that led to the rooftop, and when their train of thought was blocked, they sat on the stairs and looked at each other with despair in their eyes, unable to say a few words for an hour or two. Occasionally someone comes up with a new idea, and others are quick to point out what is wrong. "We're all constantly denying each other, and for a long time, we don't know where to go. There is also time pressure, you have to come up with something reliable as soon as possible, and at that time it is very desperate."

They repeat these days, despair returns.

In the long collision, the script gradually revealed two main directions: to be completely faithful to the original, or to attract a wider audience and add more popular elements in the market? The main creators swayed between these two roads, Bai Yiqian never let go of the "fear" in his heart, "I am afraid that many people who have not watched "The Three-Body Problem" feel not exciting and hilarious when they watch it, and it will be a little difficult to watch." But he also worries that those styles and elements will overwhelm the character of The Three-Body Problem itself.

At the end of 2017, the main creators of all the crews such as Tencent Video, Three-Body Universe, and Linghe Culture held a lengthy meeting with the original author Liu Cixin. Everyone elaborated. Bai Yiqian found that everyone has actually formed a consensus: market factors are important, but the core of "Three-Body Problem" is the most precious, and the reason why "Three-Body Problem" will shock so many people shows that it already contains huge energy. In the end, it was still Sun Zhonghuai who clapped, "Since we want to make a boutique, we must take out our favorite and most shocking thing in the "Three-Body Problem" in our minds, and make something different from the commercial works in the past."

After this meeting, the direction of the play was finally settled, that is, to use realism to faithfully the original. This setting of the tone made everyone return to the original point after experiencing detours, and everyone's hearts were down-to-earth.

Tian Liangliang could feel that the platform side had made a lot of determination, "Every time we want to go in this direction (the original), there may be different voices telling us that you should be cautious." This makes it difficult for us. But when the confidence of the platform side becomes more and more sufficient, and they are more and more determined to say, we will do this, we will also be more determined to go down this path."

At that time, everyone formed a joint force, which led the writer and production team out of the fog.

In a later interview, Sun Hongzhi, head of the TV drama IP Operation Center of Tencent's online video platform operation department, explained more about the platform's considerations: "The Three-Body Problem is a particularly good work, and we certainly hope that more users can come to see this work and feel the charm of the particularly grand world depicted by The Three-Body Problem." But we also clearly understand that we must first serve the core book fans, and only after forming a very good core can we further expand the circle. We made it clear from the beginning that the audience is the core book fans, and through the core book fans, it will spread to the peripheral sci-fi fans, Kochi groups and more TV series viewers."

It took a lot of time to determine the direction, but Sun Zhonghuai thought it was worth it, and he was willing to give tolerance and support to the main creative team, "At the beginning, we didn't have confidence, we all worked each other with a lonely courage."

For a long time, members of Tian Liangliang's screenwriting team ran to her house almost every day, and the girls even lived in her house. When it comes to handing in a certain version of the script, they stay up all night and take turns working. When one person wakes up, the other person can catch up on sleep for a while. Physical exhaustion can be passed, but more often it is mental hardship.

Tian Liangliang read the original book many times, and every time he looked at it, he could find a different perspective and feeling from the previous one. She also searched the Internet for the interpretation of "The Three-Body Problem" by fans of the original work, and looked for solutions that could open up ideas in the massive interpretation.

Throughout 2018, Tian Liangliang immersed himself in the "Three-Body Problem" universe and unconsciously substituted himself into various roles, "If the end of today is a Wang Miao play or Shen Yufei's play, when you raise your head to look at the starry sky, the feeling is different." Of course, if the end of today is Shi Qiang's play, then today's luck is quite good, and you should be in a good mood."

Writing a script is not just the "solo fight" of Tian Liangliang's screenwriting team. In order to make the script scientific and professional, the crew found more than 30 scientists to hold a symposium, and for 4 months, they were studying and sorting out the professional issues in the script and forming a thick scientific knowledge manual. Among them, more than 20 scholars are stationed in the crew's WeChat group, dedicated to docking, and can get answers at any time when they encounter problems.

It took a full four years for the script to be officially polished.

Behind every real shot is the efforts of all the crew.

implement

In the summer of 2020, the crew officially started. The entire shooting lasted nearly a year, with more than 270 locations in Ningbo, Hengdian, Beijing and Heihe.

In order to implement the realism to the end, when making the scene plan, Yang Lei put forward an idea, we must achieve real-life shooting as much as possible, "The content written by Da Liu will make you think that it is a real story that happened in Beijing in 2007, so the realistic part must be done enough to be grounded and real, so that the audience believes that it is not a story imagined in our own minds." After the meeting, he pulled the list with the producers and listed the scenes they wanted to shoot: the National Nanoscience Center, the Beijing Positron Collider National Laboratory, the Astronomical Observation Base... When this list was handed over to the outreach producer, the outreach producer frowned and said with a wry smile, "How is this play different from what I used to do, I haven't done it before."

Behind the ultimate pursuit is a succession of obstacles. When they applied to the collision center for filming, they quickly ate the closed-door soup. The collision center houses a large, intricate particle collider, which has never been open to the public for filming. It is very difficult to pry open this iron plate.

To be on the safe side, the production team prepared a "support" scheme to recreate the interior scene of the collision center in the form of superimposed special effects on the scene. But everyone is not dead set on using this scheme until the last minute. "How many collision centers are there in total?" Only when you go to that scene, when people stand there, the realism is immediately complete, and of course it can be very good-looking, but that feeling is not like that at all." Bai Yiqi said.

For two or three months, the production team was in a state of anxiety. Again and again, they sent sincere requests to the person in charge of the collision center, indicating that everyone was eager to shoot "The Three-Body Problem" well and without shame, hoping to get their support.

Just when the limit of the preparation time was approaching and everyone felt that there was no drama, the head of the collision center agreed to their shooting. They became the only crew to be able to make it to the film.

In addition to the insistence of the crew, most of the scientific researchers in the center have seen "The Three-Body Problem". They told Bai Yiqi that they are also fans of "The Three-Body Problem" and also want to see it filmed one day, and through these run-ins, they feel the sincerity of the crew for this work.

Relying on this "dead knock" momentum, every institution on that list finally knocked down one by one. This consumes a lot of time and manpower, and it means that the budget is constantly increasing.

The shooting period has far exceeded expectations, and in the face of a greatly increased budget, Tencent Video chose to be inclusive and supportive. In Sun Zhonghuai's view, the word-of-mouth effect of the drama version of "The Three-Body Problem" cannot be measured by money, and as a work of the magnitude of Tencent Video's "Dinghaishen Needle", they are willing to pay a lot of tolerance and make sacrifices.

Chief producer Li Eryun explained Tencent Video's "all-or-nothing" on this project: "In the past conventional projects, we may not take this risk, and everyone will choose the safest and most efficient solution to achieve it. But for "The Three-Body Problem", even if it costs money today, even if it waits, I want to give the audience the best texture, which is greater than the consideration of time cost and capital cost. To put it bluntly, we must find this way to achieve it for the sake of that 1% possibility."

"Operation Guzheng" is one of the highlights of "The Three-Body Problem". The crew originally planned to go to the Gaillard Waterway in Panama to shoot on site, but when the start of the film in 2020, the global epidemic broke out, and all international flights were melted down, and they could not arrive at all. The crew had to choose alternative scenes in China.

Panama belongs to the tropical region of Central America, with very characteristic vegetation, similar to the southwestern part of the continent. The crew began to look for alternative scenes from the Lancang River in Yunnan, but the degree of restoration was not high. In desperation, they had to walk all over the country in rivers and woods, ingesting a large number of scene fragments for splicing to restore the real scene to the greatest extent. The search lasted nearly half a year, and the final presentation in the repertoire was only 25 minutes.

In the original work, this plot is bold in imagination, but it is also difficult to shoot. It was tricky to film a scene that quickly sliced a giant ship into thin pieces. Before the shooting, Lu Beike organized everyone to attend an open class at Huazhong University of Science and Technology to learn ship design theory. To capture the real movement of the cabin interior after it has been cut, they need to collect video data from the cabin interior and find out what the ship looks like inside and out.

In the summer of 2020, they arrived in Zhoushan, Ningbo, and entered the bottom floor of a large cargo ship. It's close to the engine, and the crew doesn't usually walk around here. Zhoushan continues to be hot in summer, and the temperature inside the cabin even reaches more than 50 degrees. As soon as you come out of the cabin, the sweat hairs on your body will instantly stand up and sweat out.

Lu Beike still remembers the experience when walking around the bottom of the cabin. It was hot, and the claustrophobic, oppressive space was enveloped by a loud roar. At that moment, he suddenly understood Liu Cixin's feelings when he stared at the generator in the power plant, people are very small, but people can also make such a large and complex machine, the idealistic background that cannot be retreated is the unique aesthetics in "The Three-Body Problem", it is not nothing, human beings are always fighting with fate. "You suddenly feel that there is a very long connection between a lot of things. An engineer in Niangziguan sits in the power station and writes this thing, and then we now use so many mechanized things to achieve what he wrote, get a lot of steel, shred it, and now stay in this steel, which is a very interesting feeling."

He has participated in many IP adaptations, but in the past he rarely developed such a sense of interconnectedness, which is the charm of the real scene and the charm of "The Three-Body Problem", "because "The Three-Body Problem" is too impressive, the sense of existence is too strong, it has a place in your heart, not to follow the flow, the location is always set there, one day or at a certain moment, you will be awakened by it."

Dreaming

"The Three-Body Problem" was officially completed one day at the end of December 2020. The last scene is a night play, completed at the foot of a mountain. After all the pictures were filmed and ready to finish, the whole crew was sleepless. They found a KTV to sing and sang with each other until dawn. Throughout the night, Yang Lei was in a state of shaking, "Is it over?" How did this matter end?"

Initially, when he learned that the "Three-Body Problem" TV series project was going to be launched, Yang Lei's first reaction was, is China's science fiction really coming? Is it really time to do science fiction dramas?

What was hesitant four years ago has become a reality.

He was a kid who grew up watching science fiction stories. He was born in 1979, and when he was of school age, the newsstand in front of the school began to sell the science fiction magazine "Science Fiction World", and he went once a week to buy a copy of "Science Fiction World" with his pocket money to take home. The magazine collected short and long stories by the world's best science fiction writers, and it planted in Yang Lei's heart the desire to explore the unknown world, "It really makes you believe that there is such a world."

His acquaintance with visual director Lu Beike was also opened by "Science Fiction World". In 2006, he was working on the visual effects part of the movie "One Man's Olympics", and the cooperation unit was Lu Beike's company. Between work breaks, they happened to sit and smoke in the smoking room, and Lu Beike noticed Yang Lei's "Science Fiction World" and talked about his favorite science fiction writer Neil Gaiman, and the two were excited. Yang Lei proposed, let's toss a company together, let's do Chinese science fiction and fantasy.

In fact, at that time, they had no concept of "Chinese science fiction". Over the years, the science fiction education received by Chinese people has been accompanied by a strong European and American color, and in sci-fi film and television dramas, as long as the protagonist speaks Mandarin, the audience will immediately play and no longer believe. Science fiction stories have never taken root on Chinese soil. The Western monopoly of science fiction has a tendency to be broken after the release of "The Wandering Earth", Yang Lei found that the people have improved their awareness and trust in Chinese science fiction, the roots have fallen, can it emit a good germ?

The expectation of Chinese science fiction dramas is the motivation for him to take the initiative to choose to direct "The Three-Body Problem". When he told Lu Beike the news, he received a strong response. Lu Beike replied to him in a long letter of 20,000 words, expressing his excitement and excitement. Before the official shooting, Yang Lei re-read "The Three-Body Problem", he wanted to find out what was the most original and moving force of this story that once shocked him, he wanted to bring his "belief" in his youth to the audience, he thought, this may be the real core of Chinese science fiction stories.

The realization of Chinese science fiction also requires the spirit of mutual assistance that flashes from time to time in this industry. The "Three-Body Problem" TV series has entered the post-production stage, and the special effects of the game part, Bai Yiqian is unwilling to use a pure animation image, which is blunt. This matter has always been hung in Bai Yiqing's heart, once having dinner with friends who were behind the scenes, he casually mentioned, if any of you are free, help me go over and "catch" one.

Unexpectedly, this request got out of hand, and finally more than 20 directors and actors came to help. They took the time to go to the mo-catch shed of "The Three-Body Problem", and some people came quietly without even eating breakfast and quietly left. Someone else called Bai Yiqing, "Why didn't you call me?" Bai Yiqian had to say, "It's really no role."

"The outside may think that these behind-the-scenes producers and directors, you will compete with each other and slander each other in private. It's not. We all respect each other and are willing to do something for each other. For a super drama like "The Three-Body Problem", for Chinese science fiction, everyone is willing to get together and make it better through a little effort, and we all understand each other's difficulties." Bai Yiqi said.

On January 12, "The Three-Body Problem" was announced to be finalized and launched three days later. Yang Lei originally thought that he would face the news with a stable attitude, "It's been four years since this happened, and it's normal to have a normal heart." But when he saw the fixed materials put out one after another in the circle of friends, his tears flowed out of his eyes. Why he cried, he didn't know, as if at that moment, all the things and all the people in the past four years came to his mind, "You think, for four years, fifteen or six hours a day doing this thing..."

On the day of the launch, the working partners were all doing "promotion" in the circle of friends, but Tian Liangliang was a day later than others. She joked with her boss that it was off-peak propaganda. What she didn't say was that she was too apprehensive in her heart, "It's like pinching a character before playing a game, you know?" You have carved it out like this, but you don't know if it's the same as everyone thinks, and I haven't let others down."

Looking back from now on, the results of "The Three-Body Problem" did not disappoint. Within 1 hour of broadcasting, the popularity of Tencent Video Station exceeded 25,000, becoming the fastest drama to exceed 20,000. Nearly 200,000 people on the Douban platform rated it, and as of press time, the score reached 8.1 points. For all the main creators involved in the production of "The Three-Body Problem", they used their own efforts to maintain this precious imagination from their youth, and presented it as completely as possible to more people.

After the broadcast of "The Three-Body Problem", Sun Zhonghuai's WeChat received the impressions of friends from time to time after watching the three-body problem. Some friends sent him long messages, carefully recording their feelings of watching, and some people joked that they "finished reading it on their knees", and a friend told him that her husband had not read the original book, so she kept telling her husband about the content of the book, the correspondence between the drama and the details of the book. Sun Zhonghuai realized that the drama version of "The Three-Body Problem" has sown many seeds, and it is spreading layer after layer, word of mouth, and is transmitting this story to people across the country.

Dream Making "The Three-Body Problem": How high-quality sci-fi dramas are refined

During the busy filming process, the crew also had a relaxed side during the time of "waiting for the snow to come".

For Tencent Video, the drama version of "The Three-Body Problem" is the starting point for the platform to open the sci-fi track, in fact, "The Beginning", which was launched early last year, has already had a similar effect. "The development of the drama version of "The Three-Body Problem" is not necessarily to define aesthetics or Chinese science fiction, but it does give a solution - what should be done in science fiction filming, and finding the password to success is more critical, I think we found it." Sun Zhonghuai said, "I hope that in the future, Chinese audiences will not only see overseas works, but also have expectations for Chinese works, and with the improvement of creation and the richness of stories, Chinese works will also be one of the first choices when they want to see science fiction works in the future."

At present, "The Three-Body 2" has entered the preparatory stage, and the outline is being produced, and its shooting will be more difficult than the first one. The pressure has fallen again, but with experience, they will not take any more detours, no longer need to hesitate, and can complete it more decisively.

After doing "The Three-Body Problem", Bai Yiqian felt that he had "a very tiger mentality", and he said with a smile, "We have finished "The Three-Body Problem", what other projects can't be done?" But when the TV series was officially launched, his feelings were mixed. In the process of creating "The Three-Body Problem", when he was with many industry friends, he often wondered what else could be done with "The Three-Body Problem" and where is the future of Chinese science fiction. In the most difficult stage, they will encourage Bai Yiqing, "Old Bai, do it well, we are not afraid."

Every time I think of a simple idea from my mind for the project, and then come to this day, Bai Yiqian always thinks of this group of friends. There is so much power to help them on their way to accomplish this. One after another, with expectations and dreams of Chinese science fiction, they plunged into this thing that was thought impossible.
