According to the "Daily Mail" on January 19, after the publication of Prince Harry's controversial memoir "Spare", Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's popularity in the United States plummeted in more than a month.
The couple had previously been hugely popular in the United States, but since Prince Harry launched a new round of attacks on the royal family in his new memoir, revealing a series of intimate details, such as how he lost his male body, their approval ratings have declined.
A December 5 poll of 2,000 Americans by Newsweek put Prince Harry's approval rating at +38.
Redfield & Wilton, the pollster, surveyed the same number on Jan. 16, and that number has now fallen to -7.
His wife's reputation has also been damaged. The approval rating is now -13, compared to +23 on December 5.
According to the publisher, The Standby became the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time on the day it was released earlier this month, topping sales charts around the world, including the United States.
In it, Prince Harry shocked the Windsor family with explosive revelations and accusations against his family members, especially his older brother, Prince William.
The poll marks a serious drop in support for the couple, who moved to the United States after retiring from royal duties in March 2020.
The survey also found that women dislike Markle more than men.
When asked if Prince Harry was right to reveal in his memoirs about his intimate conversations with his family, 44 percent thought he was wrong and 26 percent thought he was right.
The Redfield & Wilton survey also found that only one-third of people knew nothing about the book's content.
