Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, developed by Ubisoft's studio Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, unveils a showcase of next-generation Snowdrop engine technology.
Avatar: Pandora's Frontier is an independent spin-off of the movie Avatar and is an open-world first-person adventure game. Players will play as na'vis and explore the never-before-seen "Western Frontier" on the planet Pandora.
Since it is adapted from the movie, players will also have to face the RDA (General Resource Development Management) human invasion force that appeared in the movie to protect the world of business.
This time, the development team released a new generation of Snowdrop engine technology to showcase the film, while exposing more game-related footage, with a view of the dense jungle and aerial aerial views of the ground.
In order to fully present Pandora's world, the team has made large-scale improvements to the new engine, while allowing players to have a richer experience through the new generation of host and computer hardware processing performance.
Avatar's world is rich in woodland landscapes, and the production team uses automated planting systems and micro-detail processing techniques to create tens of thousands of diverse vegetation, and bring Pandora's world to life through interactive shaders.
In aerial exploration, the team added a 3D cloud system to the engine to improve visual quality.
In addition, thanks to real-time light tracking technology and global illumination and reflection, the light and shadow rendering effect has been greatly improved.
Expected to be available in 2022, Avatar: Pandora's Frontier will land on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms.
