According to an AFP report on the 2nd, French Football Association president Jean-Pierre Le Grale apologized on Sunday for his disrespectful remarks against Zidane, calling them "inappropriate."

On Monday, after completing a contract extension with Deschamps, Legrete spoke to French radio station RMC in which he was asked if Zidane had called him in recent days and appeared to believe the former Real Madrid coach was a potential candidate for the France team manager, News Network 24 previously reported.
"I don't even answer his calls."
Legrete said sarcastically.

"Hello sir, don't worry, go find another club, I just signed a contract with Deschamps.
The remarks also drew displeasure from French player Kylian Mbappe and sports minister Castella.
"Zidane represents France and we cannot be so disrespectful to such a legend."
Mbappe wrote on his Twitter account that he had won the 2018 World Cup with France and finished runner-up in Qatar.
