Iga Swiatek and Rafael Nadal were awarded the 2022 ITF World Championship title by the International Tennis Federation.
The ITF determines its awards based on criteria that include all events, with special emphasis on four major championships and two team events, namely the Billy Jane Gold Cup and the Davis Cup.
Although Nadal finished second in the ATP ranking behind Carlos Alcaraz, he won and Swiatek topped the year-end WTA rankings.
This is the fifth time Nadal has been honoured by the ITF, following 2008, 2010, 2017 and 2019. He improved his Grand Slam title total to a men's record of 22 after winning the Australian Open in January and the French Open in June.
This is Swiatek's first ITF World Title, after winning the French Open and US Open, the second and third major trophies of her career. This year, she leads the WTA with eight titles and sets a 37-game winning streak, the longest unbeaten run in women's tennis since 1997. #Headline Creation Challenge##网球 #
