Preface:
In 1959, in order to publicize the red culture of the party organization in order to promote the revolutionary spirit of the DPRK, the DPRK decided to send an inspection force headed by Park Yong-cun, a member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party, to northeast China to search for war sites.
Kim il sung
Before leaving, North Korean head of state Kim Il-sung received the main members of the delegation at Mangyeongdae and gave a special message to Park Yong-cun: "Do you remember Jang Weihua? He is my brother in life and death, he has been sacrificed for 20 years now, but I have not yet greeted his bereaved family. This time I go to investigate, you must help me find them. ”
How did Kim Il-sung, as the head of North Korea, know Jang Weihua, and finally found Jang Weihua's widow?
Kim Il Sung's life and death brother Jang Weihua
Zhang Weihua's name is unfamiliar to most people on the mainland, but this name is a household name in North Korea, and there is a saying in North Korea that "if you don't know Zhang Weihua, you are not Korean". What kind of person is Zhang Weihua?
It all started with Jang Weihua and Kim Il Sung's fathers.
In the winter of 1917, a foreigner came to Fusong County, Jilin Province, northeast China, Kim Il-sung's father, Kim Hyung-ji. At that time, Japan invaded Korea, and in order to resist Japan, Kim Hyung-ji organized an underground anti-Japanese organization in Pyongyang to organize the Korean National Association, and was hunted down by the Japanese army.
Kim Hyung-ji
Although he was in exile for a while, Kim Hyung-ji's love never changed, and he pinned all his hopes on his son, hoping that he could become the pillar of the country, so he named it "Seongju".
Because Kim Hyung-ji is a North Korean, the Fusong County government has delayed not allowing their family to settle down, and just when Kim Hyung-ji's family is cornered, Kim Hyung-ji's kind act allows him to meet his best friend Jang Wancheng.
Zhang Wancheng is Zhang Weihua's father, at that time Zhang Wancheng was suffering from a very serious typhoid fever, and it was still useless to ask a famous doctor nearby, and the news spread to Jin Hyungji's ears as soon as it spread ten, and it happened that Jin Hyungji was good at medical skills and took the initiative to see Zhang's family.
After a few days of diagnosis and treatment by Jin Hyungji, Zhang Wancheng's illness miraculously gradually improved, which made the Zhang family grateful to Jin Hyungji. In order to repay his life-saving grace, Zhang Wancheng and the local gentry went to the Fusong County Government to lobby, and finally solved the problem of Jin Hyungji's family settlement, and Zhang Wancheng also married Jin Hyungji as brothers and became friends of Mo.
Under the influence of their fathers, Jang Weihua and Kim Il Sung naturally became good friends, grew up together since childhood, and had a deep friendship. Even if they grow up and separate, it still does not affect their feelings.
In 1927, Kim Il-sung, who had been influenced by his father's patriotic feelings since he was a child, left Fusong County and went to study at Yuwen Middle School in Jilin City. Kim Il Sin, who was only 15 years old at the time, had already established the original revolutionary organization as a member of the "Down with the Imperialist League." While in school, Kim Il-sung came into contact with the underground organization of the Chinese Communist Party in the northeast and, under its influence, secretly recruited Korean progressive patriots in the school to participate in the anti-imperialist league.
Since Kim Il Sung's departure, Jang Weihua has not been able to lift his spirits, he misses his childhood friends so much that he even dropped out of school at home. Zhang Wancheng repeatedly persuaded Zhang Weihua to study in Shenyang, but he still wanted to go to Jilin to find Kim Il Sung.
Zhang Weihua remembered what Kim Il Sung said to him when he was leaving: "I am going to find the Communist Party and save my country!" So on a snowstormy night, Zhang Weihua secretly took his father's talisman pistol with him, sneaked out of the house alone, and embarked on the road to Jilin City.
Portrait of Zhang Weihua
Kim Il Sung, who was about to graduate from Yuwen Middle School, was attending class one day when an old school worker suddenly came in and said, "There is a young man outside who came from Changbai Mountain and said he wanted to see you. Kim Il Sung came to the door with doubts and saw Zhang Weihua smiling stupidly. Seeing Kim Il Sung, Zhang Weihua slowly took out his pistol and showed it to Kim Il Sung, and said: "Cheng Zhu, I am also coming to participate in the revolution!" ”
Although Kim Il Sung was very surprised by Zhang Weihua's behavior, after getting along with him for many years, Kim Il Sung also understood Zhang Weihua's person, dared to think and do, was not afraid of danger, and was a tenacious Chinese.
Kim Il Sung was very moved, but still persuaded Zhang Weihua to go back, but Zhang Weihua's attitude was very resolute, saying that he was here to participate in the revolution this time, how could he give up halfway! There was no way, so Kim Il Sung had to send Zhang Weihua to Yushutun, not far from Jilin, to carry out underground work under the cover of teaching.
It was not until the following year that Zhang Weihua's brother Zhang Weizhong went to Jilin to find him back to his hometown. At this time, Kim Il Sung had graduated from Yuwen High School and wanted to go to the mountains to pull arms. Although Zhang Weihua was reluctant, he also had to leave. Before leaving, Kim Il Sung was also reluctant, and he told Zhang Weihua: "When you learn it, we will fight together!" Zhang Weihua left with tears in her eyes.
During the year in Jilin, Kim Il Sung had already developed Zhang Weihua into a member of the "Communist Youth League" organization, and Zhang Weihua's return to his hometown this time also had an important task of organizing the party's peripheral organizations to carry out underground struggles in Fusong.
Teenage playmates and the same aspirations, two good friends unfold a thrilling and touching story.
Zhang Weihua saves Kim Il Sung twice
In his later years, Kim Il Sung always sighed about life, and he would burst into tears countless times when he thought of his childhood friend Zhang Weihua.
After graduating from Yuwen Middle School, Kim Il Sung left Jilin and soon organized underground anti-Japanese armed forces in the Karen countryside near Jilin. In June of the same year, Kim Il Sung was arrested and imprisoned for the failed armed insurrection proposed at the Karen Conference, and although he temporarily lost his freedom, Kim Il Sung's revolutionary spirit remained as fervent as fire.
In 1930, Kim Il-sung's first thing after being released from prison was to go to Guyushu Village, Yitong County, Jilin, to secretly organize the Korean Anti-Japanese National Salvation Revolutionary Army. Due to the two previous riots organized by radicals in the Kanto region, the northeast warlords and Japanese military and police agents in Jilin put Jilin on strict alert.
It was easy to enter Jilin and difficult to get out of Jilin, so when Kim Il Sung was preparing to conduct a secret organization in Yitong County, he found that the situation was very serious and not conducive to the development of the organization at all, so he went to Dunhua Mountain through Jilin to carry out work.
However, he found that Jilin's city gates, railway stations and other transportation arteries were strictly controlled, and Japan also sent a large number of spies to observe in secret. In order to protect Kim Il Sung's ability to leave Jilin smoothly, several female comrades of the League Association are ready to wear gorgeous clothes and dress up as rich ladies to take Kim Il Sung out of Jilin in a crowd.
However, when they arrived at the train station, they found that a large number of police officers were checking passengers one by one, and they also had confidential documents of the Alliance Association on their bodies, so the risk of direct inspection was too great. Kim Il Sung could not joke about the lives of his comrades, he did not get on the train, but went to a small station 10 miles from Jilin and boarded the train.
However, the train is not completely safe, and military police and Japanese agents often interrogate passengers, and the North Koreans are searched carefully. Kim Il Sung felt a pang of despair, and he watched the military police check on him, so he had to keep moving around the carriage.
But carriages are limited, and Kim Il Sung is ready to die. Just when he was desperate, he didn't expect to meet Zhang Weihua on the train.
Since his last separation from Kim Il-sung, Jang has been looking forward to news that Kim Il-sung has organized the Korean revolutionary armed forces. When the news of Kim Il-sung's arrest came back to Fusong last year, Zhang Weihua was very anxious.
Later, he accidentally heard that Kim Il Sung had returned to Jilin and wanted to see him again, but Zhang Weihua delayed in Jilin for several days and could not find Kim Il Sung, so he was ready to go to Shenyang alone to study, but he did not expect to meet Kim Il Sung on the train.
Knowing that Kim Il Sung's situation was dangerous, Zhang Weihua pulled Kim Il Sung into his first-class box to hide without saying a word. At this time, the military police outside had locked all the boxes and checked them one by one. Because most of the first-class boxes were where the dignitaries were, the military police and Japanese spies were not strictly investigated, so Kim Il Sung escaped inspection without risk.

After the military police and others walked away, Kim Il Sung breathed a sigh of relief. When they arrived at Hailong Station, the two hugged each other and said goodbye, agreeing that they would take Zhang Weihua with them to participate in the revolution after graduation.
It was the summer of 1937 when I said goodbye to Jang Weihua, when Kim Il Sung was waging a guerrilla war in Japan-ruled Northern Manchuria. Within a few years, he had assembled a powerful Korean People's Revolutionary Army in northeast China. While dealing with the enemy in the Jilin Mountains, Kim Il Sung and his comrades were forced into the dense forests of the Fusong Ma'an Mountain Area due to the outnumbered enemy.
The Japanese army far outnumbered Kim Il Sung's troops, and surrounded the dense forest. Kim Il Sung's troops had little food and ammunition left, and seeing that the troops would be trapped here alive, Kim Il Sung thought of his good brother Jang Weihua and wanted to seek his help. But after saying this idea today, it was opposed by most people.
Everyone thinks that Zhang Weihua has a solid family after all, and although he was affected by the revolution in the past few years, no one can guarantee what Zhang Weihua has become today, and if he colludes with the Japanese, then their traces will definitely be discovered. But Kim Il Sung strongly believed in Zhang Weihua's person, and he insisted on sending people down the mountain to find Zhang Weihua.
As Kim Il Sung believed, Zhang Weihua has become a very good member of the Chinese Communist Party. Over the years, he not only married a wife and had children, but also opened a photo studio. Externally he is a small boss, in fact, secretly he is an underground worker.
When Kim Il Sung's team found him, Jang Weihua burst into tears with excitement, and he has been looking for the whereabouts of his good brother all these years. According to the agreement of the North Korean liaison officer, a few days later, Zhang Weihua arrived at a cave in Miaoling outside Fusong City as promised.
After many years of not seeing, the two personable teenagers have turned into young people, just saw Zhang Weihua cried excitedly, Kim Il Sung also had red eyes, in order to hide his excitement, Kim Il Sung also said jokingly: "Wei Hua, why do you always cry when you see me?" ”
In the cave, the two talked for 3 hours, merging all the thoughts they had for years into words of concern. But what they didn't know was that this meeting was the last time they saw each other in their lives.

When he learned of the difficulties encountered by Kim Il Sung's troops, Zhang Weihua confidently promised that he would definitely send them supplies. Sure enough, in less than ten days, Zhang Weihua raised a large amount of funds and military supplies in Fusong. There was cotton, cloth, grain, kerosene, and so on.
In this way, Zhang Weihua secretly provided a lot of help to Kim Il Sung's troops, and they kept in touch during this period. By the autumn of 1937, the search for Japanese pseudo-counterfeits had become more stringent, and Kim Il Sung had not contacted Jang Weihua for two months, and he could not help but feel faintly uneasy.
After a few more days, Kim Il Sung became more and more worried, and immediately sent someone to Zhang Weihua's photo studio to check the situation, but only to see that the photo studio closed its doors and Zhang Weihua was nowhere to be seen. Kim Il Sung was very worried, and after inquiring around, he finally learned Jang Weihua's whereabouts.
Jang Weihua was exposed, and it was Kim Il Sung's classmate Jung Hak-hae who betrayed Jang Weihua. Zheng Xuehai was also an underground worker in his early years, but later he could not withstand the temptation thrown by the enemy and turned into a traitor. This time, it was he who took out from Zhang Weihua that he sent materials for Kim Il Sung.
Soon the Japanese pseudo surrounded the photo studio, and Zhang Weihua was also sent to prison. In order to find out Kim Il Sung's whereabouts, the enemy did everything he could, and Zhang Weihua tortured various torture instruments, never revealing a word. Zhang Weihua suffered a lot, and his father Zhang Wancheng spent a lot of money to take his son out under the name of "medical parole".
The rescued Zhang Weihua was tortured to the fullest, he spread out everyone around him, trembled and wrote a letter to Kim Il Sung, and then went to a dark room in the photo studio, picked up a bottle of tribute liquid and drank it into his stomach.
Jang Weihua died, and the enemy no longer had any way to find out Kim Il Sung's whereabouts. When Kim Il Sung learned the news, it was already a month later, along with a letter written to him by Zhang Weihua, which said: "Seong-ju: The enemy is sending spies to secretly reconnoiter the location of the headquarters of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army. Please return the headquarters quickly! Zhang Weihua is a masterpiece. ”
Kim Il Sung could not cry silently, and his good brother died under the persecution of the enemy for the headquarters of the Korean Revolutionary Army and for the common cause of the Chinese and Korean peoples. At that time, Zhang Weihua's son Zhang Jinquan was only 4 years old, and his daughter Zhang Jinlu had just been born.
Kim Il Sung looked for Jang Weihua's descendants, and the two continued the frontier
After the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Il Sung became the prime minister, and although he was busy with government affairs, he never forgot Jang Weihua's kindness to the Korean people.
In 1959, in order to publicize the red culture of the party organization in order to promote the revolutionary spirit of the DPRK, the DPRK decided to send an inspection force headed by Park Yong-cun, a member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party, to northeast China to search for war sites. Before leaving, Kim Il Sung specially instructed Park Yongcun: "Do you remember Zhang Weihua? He is my brother in life and death, he has been sacrificed for 20 years now, but I have not yet greeted his bereaved family. This time I go to investigate, you must help me find them. ”
Park Yongcun led the delegation all the way to northeast China, and immediately busied themselves with inspections and visits, and their footprints traveled all over Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces. Park Yongcun had fought with Kim Il Sung and his contribution to Chang Weihua was also visible, and he had already searched for the whereabouts of Zhang Weihua's bereaved family through China's foreign reception department before arriving in Fusong, Jilin.
The Chinese side attached great importance to this and soon found Zhang Weihua's bereaved family. Zhang Weihua's father, Zhang Wancheng, died in 1954, and Zhang Weihua's wife and two children lived in Fusong County.
When Park Yongcun arrived at Jang Weihua's home to express Kim Il-sung's greetings, Jang Weihua's wife was moved, and she took out a photo that had been sealed for many years, which was a group photo taken by Jang Weihua and Kim Il-sung's brother Kim Cheol-ju when they were in Fusong, which was also the only posthumous photo of Jang Weihua.
In order to thank Kim Il Sung for his nostalgia for Jang Weihua, Jang Weihua's wife sent the photo to North Korea. When he saw Zhang Weihua in the photo, Kim Il Sung could not hide his sad look. He directed Mr. Zhang's photographs to be displayed in Pyongyang's new National Liberation War Museum.
Through this expedition, the history of the Korean War of Resistance was restored, and Zhang Weihua's deeds were also spread in North Korea, and his name became a household name. Soon after, Kim Il Sung received another letter from Jilin, China. It was written by Zhang Weihua's eldest son, Zhang Jinquan, and in a seven-minute letter, Zhang Jinquan told Kim Il Sung about the ups and downs of the family since his father's death, and expressed his gratitude to Kim Il Sung for his unforgettable.
In 1984, Kim Il-sung traveled by train from North Korea all the way to China, and as he passed through the Jilin border, Kim Il-sung suddenly told the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry accompanying him: "I really hope to see the descendants of Zhang Weihua." "But this time Kim Il Sung has more important tasks. So Kim Il Sung asked the head of Chinese diplomacy to send gifts to Zhang Weihua's descendants.
By this time, Jang Weihua's wife had died, and his son Jang Jincheon expressed his gratitude to Kim Il Sung after receiving the gift, which made Kim Il Sung want to see them even more.

In 1985, Kim Il Sung specially invited Zhang Jinquan and Zhang Jinlu to Pyongyang Jinxiu Mountain Assembly Hall to gather, Kim Il Sung, as the head of state of North Korea, can not speak foreign languages in diplomatic situations, but this time Kim Il Sung made an exception to speak Chinese, which made the Zhang family feel supremely honored, which also shows that Kim Il Sung attaches great importance to Jang Weihua's family.
During the few days of sightseeing in North Korea, Zhang Jinquan learned that his father was a well-known hero among the Korean people, and he couldn't help but be moved to tears. Half a month later, when the Zhang Jinquan brothers and sisters left North Korea, Kim Il Sung also specially saw them off, and the Zhang brothers and sisters were even more moved.
On October 27, 1992, the 55th anniversary of Zhang Weihua's death, the Zhang brothers and sisters were preparing to erect a stone monument for their father's tomb in Fusong, Jilin, so they wanted to ask Kim Il Sung to write an inscription for the tombstone. ”
On the same day, at the request of Chairman Kim Il Sung, comrades from the Central Institute of Party History of the Workers' Party of Korea made a special trip to the Chinese border, and the responsible persons of the Jilin and Fusong city party committees personally greeted Chairman Kim Il Sung's monument to the martyr Jang Weihua.
I saw that the monument was engraved: Martyr Zhang Weihua's revolutionary achievements are a shining example of the friendship between the peoples of the DPRK and China. The noble revolutionary spirit and revolutionary achievements of martyrs will always live in the hearts of the people.
