At this year's China Car Hunting List, PwC launched the Chinese edition of "Focusing on the Future: Automotive Industry Trends Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") in China.

The report predicts that by 2030, under the premise of completely reshaping the industry from the absolute dominance of fuel vehicles to the dominance of CASE (that is, intelligent connectivity, autonomous driving, shared mobility and electrification) technology, the scale of traditional and emerging businesses in the automotive industry will increase from the current $3 trillion to $6.5 trillion, and the market prospects are still very broad.

"In the next 5~10 years, the annual sales of automobiles in the Chinese market will basically maintain a slight increase, but the market structure will change greatly, and we predict that by 2030, the sales of pure fuel vehicles will fall from 75% in 2021 to 11%, and the proportion of electric vehicles will account for 41%." Xu Huchu, PwC China Automotive Industry Partner, said.

New energy vehicles will maintain their good momentum

According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, domestic production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 5.485 million units and 5.28 million units in January ~ October, respectively, an increase of 1.1 times year-on-year, and the market share reached 24%. In this context, whether the sales of new energy vehicles in mainland China can exceed 6.5 million units this year has also become the focus of attention in the industry.

In the roundtable dialogue session with the theme of "Opportunities and Challenges in the Second Half of Electric Intelligence" in this year's China Car Hunting List, Shi Jianhua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, believes that the sales of new energy vehicles in mainland China are expected to exceed 6.5 million units this year, which is related to the expansion of the development scale of the new energy vehicle industry in mainland China in recent years, the improvement of technology, the optimization of supporting environment and other factors, and it is expected that new energy vehicles will continue to maintain a good momentum of development in quality and quantity this year and next.

With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle market, relevant policies are also adjusting. The outside world is worried that the adjustment of preferential policies will have an impact on the current development trend of the new energy vehicle market?

In this regard, Zhou Jiang, vice president of Nezha Automobile and president of the trading company, said: "The adjustment and fluctuation of national policies is a gradual adjustment to the development of the industry, and we believe that more buffer periods will allow new energy vehicles to continue to maintain some of their existing advantages, especially in terms of price." ”

This year, the sales volume of new energy vehicles has grown steadily, and automobile exports have continued to hit record highs, and a number of independent car companies have successively entered overseas markets such as Europe. But in Xu Huchu's view: "New energy vehicle companies need to overcome the problem of losses when they 'go global', and they need to work infrastructure construction around the whole life cycle of users, and it will take time to reverse the prejudice of European and American consumers against Chinese brands." ”

With the opening of the competition in the second half, intelligence has become a hot topic in the automotive industry, and many car companies are looking for new development opportunities.

"Intelligence determines whether a car company can survive and live well, which requires car companies to have the ability to feedback and iterate based on user needs, and be prepared to integrate and accommodate intelligent resources." In addition, it is necessary to form the cognition of intelligent brands. Professor Ji Xuehong, director and professor of the Automotive Industry Innovation Research Center of North China University of Technology, believes that thanks to the mainland's strong industrial base, research and development capabilities, market capacity and consumption capacity, Chinese brand smart electric vehicle enterprises may promote the evolution of the domestic automobile market pattern.
