Perhaps because Taiwan's "Those Years" was released in Hong Kong that year and achieved a box office of 7.9 million, this made the director Huang Xiuping, who once won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best New Director, want to make a youth romance film with Hong Kong local characteristics. This film is an idealistic sentiment rarely found in Hong Kong people, and he sticks to the production of Local Hong Kong films.

The film begins with a bird's-eye shot of the sky looking down at Hong Kong moving slowly, followed by the appearance of the heroine of the film, Yu Fengzhi (Miriam Yeung), who has been working in a travel agency for more than a decade, just like the husband and wife relationship with her husband Peng Shenghua (Lin Haifeng), life has long lost the passion of the time when she was newly married. When Yu Fengzhi was about to leave work, she received a message from the class reunion, and at the party, everyone talked about every classmate who did not show up, including a boy named Su Bowen, hearing this name, Yu Fengzhi also recalled the previous memories, so the film also returned to the era when they were still students.
The film returns to the student era, a female and two male protagonists appeared on the scene, they liked this picture very much, the boys all had short hair, wearing white and clean shirts, like a Japanese small fresh feeling. From here, the film's picture also intersects with the memory and reality, and the director did not particularly shoot the Hong Kong appearance of the 90s when he filmed back to the student era, but the Hong Kong mood appeared everywhere in the film, such as the contrived recitation tone at that time, the spoof of "Aaron Kwok" in the school song and various interesting things on campus.
Like all youth movies, youth films love to beautify love with dreams. The feelings revealed in the film also deeply touched those of us who had dreams. And Su Bowen's choice between flying dreams and love also makes us feel the sense of loss after the dream is shattered.
In "Which Day We Will Fly", although the plot is bland, there is no delicate and contrived lines, reality and past time are intertwined, all in the film seems so real and delicate, as a youth film, director Huang Xiuping told his own beautiful and regretful interpretation of youth in such a different style.
