Earlier this year, a court in Yakutsk declared Alexander Gabyshev insane when he allegedly stabbed a member of the Russian Federation's protection services with a homemade weapon. Now, he will be sent to a special institution where he will continue to be closely observed.

Gabeshev is from Yakutia, Siberia, an area known for its cold and bitter winters. "Shamanics" have existed in this region for centuries, playing the role of "healers" or mystics in society.

In 2019, he announced plans to hike from his hometown to Moscow, a journey of about 7,500 kilometers, to perform an "exorcism ceremony" against Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he called a "demon." Since then, he has tried several times, each time being stopped by law enforcement.

He had also previously planned to light a bonfire in Red Square, fueled by kumis (a fermented dairy product) and horse mane. He said that after doing the shamanic prayers, Putin would calmly resign.
