Artist Xu Guangzhi's two solo exhibitions, "Day and Night" and "Lyricism of Time", were recently held at Guan Shanyue Art Museum and Pengbaoxuan Art Museum, from large-scale creations to sketches, the two major exhibitions comprehensively show Xu Guangzhi's artistic outlook from different angles. Unlike "Day and Night", which was exhibited at the same time at Guan Shanyue Art Museum, which is mainly a large-scale work with great visual impact, the "Lyricism of Time" exhibited at Pengbaoxuan is mainly based on sketches and still life, which is closer to life, many of which are the works of artists sketching at home and abroad. Many of his sketches dare to use strong color tones, and apply large brushstrokes and written lines to show a frank sensibility in shaping the environment. Spring, summer, autumn and winter, the sun and the moon alternate, time rotates under the artist's pen, and the two exhibitions echo each other, presenting a relatively complete artistic outlook of Xu Zhiguang.
Brilliant and loud colors, delicate and freehand brushstrokes, are the two major characteristics of Xu Zhiguang's works to attract audiences. The themes of the two major exhibitions in Shenzhen, "Day and Night" and "Lyricism of Time", are derived from the commentaries specially written by the famous critic Fan Di'an for this exhibition, Fan Di'an believes that Xu Zhiguang has always held resilience in the research and creation of oil paintings, and has a sensitivity to natural scenes and living realities in the external world. For many years, on the one hand, he has continued to go to life and nature, capturing vivid and vivid people and things in a space full of light, depicting moods and scenes with the breath of life, so that his creations present a variety of perspectives and forms.
In the most dynamic city of nightlife, Xu Guangzhi's a number of works showing night scenes attracted the attention of Shenzhen audiences, and the sea of night, the sky of night, the city of night, and the life of night all fell into his paintings, becoming scenes that triggered distant imagination. This batch of works expressing night scenes is the result of Xu Zhiguang's specialization over the years.
